I am new in this area, hope expert may help to answer my question. Will I lost my data? Is my windows still remain accessible after flash the new bios? Do I need to reinstall my Window or rebuilt my RAID array after motherboard bios update?

    Thanks
I am running raid 0 and the rig in my sig and the only thing I had to do after flashing was go back into the bios and reset all my settings then everything was fine, otherwise it will not detect the drives because raid is not enabled in the bios after flashing everything returns to default bios settings

After bios flashing just goto BIOS setup set SATA RAID/AHCI Mode to RAID, it will able to auto detect my existing RAID array, right?

Do I still need to enter the RAID BIOS setup utility to configure a RAID array by pressing CTRL+I?

For your information, I'm running Intel Matrix RAID 1 & 0 at two Seagate HDD.

    Thanks

172x: Don't worry about your data. The RAID setup, I believe, is stored on the drives themselves, not the BIOS or in flash. It's nice, so if you take your drives out and put them into another ICH9R system (and it has RAID enabled in the BIOS), it will automatically recognize the RAID setup.

The manual says that after loading in a new BIOS that you should load default settings. Probably a good idea, but I didn't do that. Nothing bad happened that I saw.

FYI, I setup a RAID 10 & RAID 5 setup on my four 250GB drives. I've flashed the BIOS 4 times or so with NO problems.

    Your right.

Yep, running in single channel mode. It is stable.

    I ordered 3 GA-P35-DS3P for overnight delivery.

Alsmost the same board without the fancy heatpipe and 6 phase power instead of 12.

What vFSB and vMCH were stable for people who run 400FSB? Trying to find a nice setting for 400x9 on a Q6600.

Here's the response I got from Gigabyte...

Removing the crazy cool backplate will void the warranty, removing the crazy cool heatsink will cause the northbridge to overheating and the other 2 portion where the heatpipe is on top.
This guy is funny... the manual tells you how to remove the backplate - so... I don't know what he's saying it voids the warranty...

Whatever, either way I got a perfect cut done today.

    And my response...

But the manual tells you how to remove the backplate in case the owner has a heatsink that requires bottom mounting. Why would the manual tell the buyer how to remove the backplate if it voided warranty?

Would Gigabyte rather me use the Intel stock heatsink which lets my quad load at 75C or a better heatsink which keeps my load temperatures under 60C - and effectively keeping the motherboard area around the CPU socket cooler.

Please don't tell me the motherboard will overheat without the Crazy Cool backplate because I know it will not. The passive cooling heat pipe system is the largest passive cooling system I have seen on any motherboard. And combined with the fact that I have fans mounted to that passive cooling system - not a chance unless I decide to go overkill on all of my voltages which I do not do. Other motherboard so not have a heat-pipe system at all, and no backplate, and yet those do not overheat.

Now, please give me a serious response, on the warranty issue if it really is voided or not if the plate is removed, and if it voided please tell Gigabyte to remove page 16 section 1-3-3 in the Gigabyte P35-DQ6 manual, because that is the entire step by step page on how to remove the backplate - and no where does it mention a warranty being void.
