yea the thing is........my computer isnt even in the case yet. its still on the floor. ive remounted alot. had a ds3 before this board and the temps were the same. core temp showed a high ass temp while the boards software shows 20-25 degrees lower. somethings gotta be up

EDIT just reseated about 5 more times still no change. everything is tight no wobbling. maybe my ihs isnt making good contact with the core?

    Hello,

Have anybody tried to modify the power system of this board (add another channel of power) ?

Please, tell me which parts to add, or give the link for a guide.

The South Bridge cooler is enough as long as you get some active cooling going with it!! This little board will really wind it up!

That a 120mm blowing over the cpu cooler and onto the memory there is an 80 in the case blowing directly on the memory and NB then the 2 x 90mm fans below supplying both the NB and the 7900GT vid card. There is a 90mm top fan also. more going in than coming out is good for cooling and helps keep the dust down longer, not forever, longer...

Just stuff the air in there... That case was $9.95 from Geeks it has good room and was easy to mod for air flow. Good air flow is the key to great clocks.
Maybe I need to post the case mod up for people to help to you to get the air moving where you need it for good results. My NB is stock and is Warm, not hot.

Be careful when fitting the heatsink. Those two little chips in the middle heat up a lot. You should ensure they also have contact with the heatsink in some way.

I just bought one and it posted fine with a E6550, eventhough it came stock with 0505 bios. It was just clocked wrong. Anyhow it allowed me to flash to latest bios 0703.
FYI 1333 fsb cpu's are supported as of 0608 bios.

I believe Bios 0803 is for the new dual core support. I might pick up an E8400 and update to this new one sometime in the near future.

Don't go and confuse people. It only takes a quick minute to check if what you're saying is true before posting it.

0803 DOES NOT SUPPORT 45NM CPUs.

I posted a thread in this same forum section about this board and my endeavors with an E8400 recently.

Your E8400 will not work "properly" until the bios is released sometime next week by Asus engineers.

My source? An Anandtech editor who emailed Asus for me since I asked him to.

There are a couple threads in here about P5N-E SLI boards and the new 45nm processors, just take a quick look.

Couple members have the processor stable on this board, but I don't know how they did so, because I couldn't get it stable even at stock settings. Maybe it's because I'm using 4GB of ram and they're not.

Just can't wait until the official bios release next week so I can rush out and pick up another cpu to try out.

    Cheers,
    Mike

Edit:: 0803 seems to get rid of the FSB hole when using 4GB (4x1GB modules) of ram, between high 700Mhz and low 800Mhz. One member at Anandtech forums experienced the hole is still present with 8GB of ram. I don't see many P5N-E SLI owners using 8GB of ram, so I think you'll be fine using this bios. I love it. No more having to take out ram sticks just to get it to boot to bios then having to change settings and then putting the stick back in, after a cmos reset.

I actually went on the asus forums and read that bios 0803 DID support the new CPU's.

Link to the officially supported cpus.
    http://support.asus.com/cpusupport/c...5N-E%20SLI

It's not like the cpus don't work on these boards, but they're not officially supported yet and problems may arise, like they did for me.

Couldn't get the E8400 unit I had stable on my motherboard.

Others have reported stability even overclocking, but 0803 does not "support" the new 45nm cpus.

This bios does support 1333FSB cpus that are on the 65nm process, but not the newer 45nm ones.

I don't know who in the asus forums reported this, but I exchanged emails with an Anandtech editor who contacted Asus engineers about new bios for this motherboard to support the new 45nm cpus and they said in about a week, which was a week ago.

So we should see one real soon.

Edit:: Also, if you read in the Asus forum (P5N-E SLI section), there is a thread about the E8400 and this board and how unsupported cpus on a motherboard can void the cpus warranty, supposedly.
This is a post by a moderator.
Makes sense to me, even though I haven't seen this in writing. If a product part is not officially supported by another part to work together, then if anything should go wrong it is not supported by the warranty.
So like I was saying, don't go around telling people 0803 supports the new 45nm cpus, incase an inexperienced person goes off and somehow gets screwed over by a bad cpu on this motherboard and can't claim warranty or something, or has major stability issues.
Hey, not likely, but it could happen.
    Better safe than sorry.

I also read about that the warranty being voided with a MB that is not officially supported. Kinda why I haven't ordered a E8400 yet. I'll most likely pick up a new MB. Waiting to see reviews on the 750i!

Word on the web is that Bios 1001 is about to be released in the next couple of days for the P5N-E. But we will find out if it will work or not.
