How did you fuse the copper base plate to the existing Copper base of the Thermalright?

It's a noctua NC-U6 and use T411 thermal pad, as it seems to fix really strong I was scared to used it on mosfet so reused the silicon pad from the original heatpipe heatsink

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------

you can actually download the original bios from abit and use the "RUNME.BAT" and the "ABITFAE.BAT" to do the flashing for you automatically...all you do is edit "abitfae.bat" with the below command switches (use "SN" instead of SY if you do not want to save the original bios file installed since you might be using floppy disks)

also, edit "runme.bat" with the correct name of the bios file, ie, "M629B_11.A01".

if you want to boot off a floppy, you will need two floppy's...one for the booting to DOS and the other carries your bios file along with the award flasher...you can also have the runme.bat and abitfae.bat included on that 2nd disk to do the automatic flashing...all you have to do is type in from the "A:" prompt this syntax: RUNME.BAT (assuming you edited those two files before hand)

if you don't quite catch on what or how to do the above then you can type the commands manually to do the flashing (old way)...this procedure is more prone to mistakes (abort from flashing) since everything has to be correct in format and spacing.

    with the 2nd floppy in your "A" drive and you have the "A" prompt on the screen, you type this: A:AWDFLASH.EXE M629B_11.A01 /py /sy /WB /cd /cp /cc /CKS

remember there is one space between each file or switch annotation...there is NO space between the "A" prompt and AWDFLASH.EXE

DO NOT OVERCLOCK while flashing the bios....and...make sure you have proper voltage to your memory sticks..if your sticks require 2.0v, make sure you have that set before attempting to flash.

always a good idea to do a full format on floppy's before copying the bios files and other files to the 2nd floppy...if you have a bad sector on a floppy and do not do a full blown format, it would be a bummer that the bios file would be copied to that part of the bad sector(s) on the disk.
    Ace,

I got the flash drive to work, but when the prompt "A:\>" comes up I can't write anything. I thought it was my USB keyboard, but I used a second keyboard that had a AT/PS2 adapter and that still did not work.

if you set the booting up correctly...you should see a "C" prompt because the USB is considerd like a hard drive versus a floppy drive...so...you have to set "Hard Drive" as your first booting priority (Advanced Bios Features)...and then go into the "Hard Disk Boot Priority" to move your USB drive up to the top selection.

I did that; however it does not say straight forward whether I want to move the USB drive up. I have the two hard drives and "Other boot able devices." I made that one the first one in the "Hard Disk Boot Priority." Still nothing.

my USB flash drive is listed by name in my BIOS. I put that above my HDDs and then the BIOS will use it to startup.

Yeah, I would expect it to show the drives name. It only says "Other Bootable Add-In devices."

I will try a different flash drive.

Edit: Well I got it to show "C:\>" but I can't get past that.

type in "DIR" at the C: prompt to see the files on the USB drive...OR...just type in "RUNME.BAT" and then hit enter....if none of this works then you have not set up your USB drive correctly or you did not transfer the flashing files on to the root of the drive.

Am I suppose to see the characters as I type? Because I can't see what I am typing. (If I am at all)

    Edit:
I am doing exactly what the first post says to do.

    CPU Fan

I am having a sudden problem. My CPU Fan isn't going more than 1260 RPM having a result when the CPU goes up to 75 to start beeping etc.
I thought first that this was due to Uguru but at bios metering it's the same.
Any thoughts on this will be appreciated.

your keyboard isn't working..is it an USB keyboard?...if so, make it a PS/2 keyboard.

EDIT:...go into the bios, "Integrated Peripherals" and change the USB keyboard from "OS" to "BIOS"

Do you know that I went to Best Buy, Radio Shack, and CompUSA. None of them had a simple USB - PS2 adapter.

I guess I will have to get a 5 dollar keyboard.

How do I know if it is flashed to the right version now? I can't find an info page in the BIOS, and the post screen is too fast for me.

    Thanks

I closed my PC from the PSU and reopen it and it goes up to 3000 and more again. Maybe it wasn't fit right who knows. I hope I won't see it again.

I know the guide called for a 1kohm resister but can you use a 10kohm one instead. It should give finer control right or am I backwards. Anyways as long as you get the resistance adjusted right then it shouldnt really matter right.

Just wondering since I got the 10k ones but no 1k. Thanks

    Thanks, it worked lol.

I'm just now wonder how to set up the raid array. Do I have to install the OS first?
oh man, are you green behind the ears!

open the abit manual to page 3-2 and read how to enable the raid controller...don't forget to put the raid drivers on your USB drive because you will need them to install the OS.
