guys...sorry to be a newbie, but...what temps can i expect to see on a q6600, at 3.2ghz...lets say...1.45v (to be sure) cooled by a tuniq T?

I'm betting mid to high 50's under load. Hopefully you won't need to give it 1.45v for 3.2ghz though.

Wow, 4GHz prime stable is pretty awesome. Hovering around 70C is not quite as awesome, but it within the G0's TDP.

I agree! and with a 680i too! I'm torn! I have a p5k premium comin tomorow. My current G0 isn't even stable at 3200 on the 680i. Same batch as turtles. Right after i ordered the p5k-p, i got an e-mail from MSI RMA. My second 8800ultraOC is comin back to me!! I guess i'll test my second G0 that will be here tomorrow on the 680i then install the asus and compare. I hope the 680i can hang. If it can't, i have an ultra fer sale

Could we add more info to the database such as:

Memory Specs (Timing, Voltage, CPU:FSB ratio, Brand, Speed)
    Motherboard Specs
What air cooling product (not feasible with water since sould be custom)?

It would make it easier than to search through individual threads.

nice eva2000, but dont the es cpu's usually clock higher than retail chips?
@turtletrax...nice work on the 680i, and with 4 sticks of ram??? wow!
see,s like we can all expect at least 3.4 on these chips, with the better ones clocking from 3.6~4.0

Maybe it's just me but does the q6600 throttle down when idle? It seems like it only runs at 1600Mhz when only a few small programs run. Or is that just CPU-Z? I also get a temp reading of 15C when at 1600. Isn't that a bit low even at that speed with a TT Big Typ VX?

You need to disable all of the extra cpu features from the bios.

Speedstep is already turned off. all thats left is c1e support, max cpuid value limit and cpu tm function.

What exactly am I supposed to disable? I'm new to the Commando, there are some many more options over the a8n-sli :P I'm not sure what exactly does what. All i know is that the multiplier keeps switching between x6 and x9

Turn off C1E Support. I was having the same problem with my mobo, couldn't work out what the hell was going on!

Also, anyone got any tips on overclocking a B3 stepping Q6600 on the P5k Deluxe? At the moment I'm sticking with 3.2ghz/1.375vCore because that gives me reasonable load temps of 74c. Upping the core speed/voltage further puts it into the 80c range, and I'm not happy with that. Running a Tuniq Tower...I'm thinking maybe I need to do some lapping?

Thanks, I'll try that. And about the lapping. The Tuniq tower has a pretty poorly finished base. Lapping it could potentially lower the temp a few degrees C.

    Here's a good guide.

What's it for anyway? is it a power saving tool or something? It does stay at x9 under load right?

On another note, on stock speed and under full load i'm getting temps of up to 55C and idle around 40C and thats with a TT Big Typhoon VX and Akasa 5022 Thermal Compound. This seems a bit on the high side, even for stepping B3. Is this right?

I really wish I remembered the show a voltage before I took this screen shot and closed everything out... This was done with 1.30V under load, and roughly 78F-80F ambient.

I have so many problems with IP35-E I did this on that I am going to RMA it, and have a P35-DQ6 on the way, in which I will go for 3.6GHz - I will be blasting the AC making sure the ambient is down to 65F or so if I need to when I do it. I'm guessing 1.40V under load will get me 3.6GHz stable. When winter comes I'll open the windows and let that 30F air come into my room in maybe go for 4GHz, I already almost killed my Gigabyte 965P-DS3 when I did 3.8GHz at 1.45V load for a few minutes - the PWM area on the DS3 gave off a foul smell but so far the board works with an e4300 still... I never realized the PWM actually overheated until if you look in the screenshot above - 76C with a fan on it. No fan = 88-90C at that speed, and on the DS3... 3.8GHz... they must have hit 125C or something.

    G0 are good chips.

I'm very pleased with this so far for air cooling

I need help with load testing in Prime95, I've never used it before. How would I set it up to test this Q6600? If someone could PM me, that would be great!

Download prime95 25.3 here. Just extract the zipped file to its own folder/directory, create a shortcut to prime95.exe if you wish, or just click on the exe. It will automatically run 4 threads for you
