I may get a pair if I can't source some in UK.

one thing that totally bewilders me is why the clips use this lame method of mounting and why not use a similar method of holes in the fins on the side like the XP90/XP120

the only issue i see is that there is only room for one fan clip to clip in those holes.

my second fan shipped today from sidewinder for my ultra-120x so ill see hwo to mount it in a day or two with zip ties.

you just use the next set of fin holes-slots below the top mounting holes or above the bottom mounting holes.

with so much humidity there you gonna need to apply a verry thin layer of oil where its corroding i suggest wd40

Oil ? .. is it safe to apply oil on a heat sink - it will not spread ? There is very little space between the fins to reach some of the spots.

On the subject of the clips for the 120-X, am I the only one having problems with them?

I've poked them into the small holes at the middle of the sides of the sink but something's not right. Whilst at the top of the sink they clip into the fan holes firmly, at the bottom they don't go in at all securely and the slightest pressure with a finger will dislodge them from the fan holes. It's as if the little bit of wire that goes into the hole in the sink isn't moving about freely and is in turn applying some "outward" pressure on the wire, trying to move it out of the fan hole.

Having real trouble explaining this as you can probably tell - noone else I've tried explaining it to knows what on earth I'm on about.

I've had to resort to using cable ties to secure the fan clips to the fan itself which is hardly ideal. What am I doing wrong?

I have the same issue, its very loose, but once you have clipped the fan in, it won't budge out of that hole, so clip the bottom ends first, then the top end.

That's the problem - once I've clipped the fan in, the top clips won't budge easily but the bottom ones will pop out of the fan holes if you so much as cough near them.

are you sure you are using either the very bottom hole or the next hole up from the bottom hole?

what about the fan...is it a ribbed fan?...do you know that term?

Just bend them slightly. Had the same problem but a little bend and they fit nice and snug.

By ribbed I presume you mean it has some obstruction where the hole is, preventing the clip from fitting correctly? Nothing like that.

The clips are in the bottom most hole and don't seem to want to fit in any others. Might try bending the wires but worried about knackering them completely.

sounds like your bottom ultra fan clip is bent out of shape and might need re-adjustment with needle nose pliers.

    upon trying to check out...

You have not reached the minimum order value.

I suppose the changes haven't been made yet? Too bad he doesn't have MX-2 paste in stock or I would have ordered both.
