    Hi guys,

hlonipha, I must've got a real POS of an e6850. I've been struggling just to get this thing stable at 3.7ish on this mobo with water (its not 100% stable even at 3.7). I read virtual's blog and various other tips on how to tune for this mobo but no luck so far.

what kinda evil magic did you work to get it that high

400 is most common ... i'm sure a few people have pushed it further but they're more the exception rather than the rule .. .. . .

it takes a lot of tweaking to get 100% STABLE past 400 which most people won't be bothered to do . . .. .

ok this is how I did it.
I dropped the cpu in MB then bumped volts to 1.55 actual, setup memory to linked/ sync mode and raised the FSB up to 4ghz. nothing else, then I ran orthos for about 1hr 30 min but the heat was a bit on the high side 70-75c. Then I back down to 3.6 and it ran orthos for 4hrs then I went up to 3.9 and that's when the real fun began.I had to reset my bios about 80 times during my first 3 days testing different combinations while reading the forums and virtual's blog on my laptop, then when I thought I had it, while running orthos the system would freeze at the 5-6 hrs mark of orthos running. Well after 6 long days of about 5 hrs each day I'm platinum stable (orthos 12hrs,3dmark 06 loop of 8hrs, cinebench etc etc... at 3.918 ghz. below are my settings hope this helps. My temps are 35c idle and 61c load P.S. I truely believe that memory plays a big role on this motherboard. micron chips work best with it for what I've been reading.

sometimes I can boot at 4ghz...but after a few mins of just surfing the web

and what not it will freeze and reboot...I am starting to think that the SB has

alot to do with overclocking as well....as well as STRONG or WEAK on the

cpu..I was able to boot at 3.825ghz with 1.425V w/NB at 1.30V and SB at

1.62V...if I bumped my NB to 1.6V it would not even boot...also noticed while

doing this if I had my CPU set to STRONG and my SB around 1.62V or more I

did not have to mess with my NB volts a whole lot.....I am thinking that the

more I mess with it the better I will get it dialed in..

BTW...does everybody here have some sort of active cooling blowing on their PWM area?

I think we just got hosed man

We should start a club where only crappy overclocks can join.

last night when I changed the nb sink to waterblock, first it boot well but after I plug in the switch and all other front panel pin, the mobo start for 2,3 seconds then stop, I suspected it was the nb overheat cos the wb not contact nicely, so I press it down then restart, it start but not post, it stop at code 88 even I take all the ram, display card off, cmos clear, take the battery off and on, disconnected and reconnected the power cord....

did I burn the nb chip?
