Sorry to jump in random here but I don't have the box and can't for the life of me find the serial number on the board. Is it on the board? Where can I find it?

ok, managed to get the board to have a more stable overclock now,

1.35v [default] now stays with in 1.33v under load with the QX6700 at 3.30 ghz [11x300]

also have speedstep etc working so it idles at 1.8ghz at about 1.1v which is great for my case temps

as i dont really have all 4 cores under load all the time.

Also got all 4 ram slots working at 1000mhz [pc5300] 12.4.4.4 which is great!

waiting for water-cooling now to overclock the chip more and GFX card
    more

    Bios version is 2205.

Yes, right where it says P5W DH Deluxe you will see a small number like Rev1.03G or so. Right above/next the RAM DIMM closest to the CPU.

Hmms, thanks for that info. Seems like I myself have a 1.04G, that good or bad?

Just flashed to the default 2004 now lawrywild, waiting for your definite report on the stability of your modded one and I'm flashing away

Yes, it's 1.02g but I'm looking for the SERIAL number to do an RMA. Should be something like 67MOAG... or whatever. I don't see it anywhere in that area, or are we talking two different things?

Nice, now it needs someone with a G0 to test. Anyone game? Best if they also had a non-G0 cpu just in case.

It's either on the back of the mobo or on the side of one of the PCI slots (not PCI-E).

Hi, use a usb flash drive. Put the bios file on the usb drive and in bios, go to ez-flash 2 and use that.

Would you mind testing my new bios? I would like to see if it's fully compatible with Q6600 G0. It's a couple of posts above. If you don't want to, then you need 2103/2205/2206.

PS: Oh yeah and give us results with that G0 on this board please mate! Lots of us are waiting for Q6600 G0's to plug in here

well done lawry for this thread i check it everyday, for all its faults i still think the p5w is the best all round motherboard i have had, i also found the 2103 a good stable bios but everyone seems top favour the 2004 so with your modded bios its the best of both worlds i suppose

That's correct and you can have other stuff on the drive no problem.

Yeah, there is a chance, but 3 people have tested it so far including me and no problems. I don't see why anything could go wrong, there's just updated microcodes and a modified string (you'll see it on the POST screen ). You have crashfree bios 3 available to you if it really did get screwed. If anything did go wrong though, most likely, you'd be able to atleast get into the bios to flash back to another bios.

I completely understand if you don't want to try it though.

    Hi all.

First post here. But it's taken me ages to read through all the posts relevant to me.

I only had my first PC 4 years ago and everything I know, which probably isn't much compared to you guys, I taught myself - mainly through google!

So, a couple of weeks ago, I built my very first PC:

    ASUS P5W DH MoBo
    Intel C2D E6600 2.40GHz Conroe
    2x1Gb Corsair XMS2 PC6400 RAM
ASUS EAX1950 Pro 256Mb Graphics Card

Quite a modest setup really, but to my surprise, the thing actually worked when I switched it on!

I've become very adventurous over the past few weeks and now the MoBo is in pieces awaiting some arctic silver 5 and a better CPU Cooler.

So, a big thank you to Lawry for starting this thread, to FreeCableGuy for his detailed guide on how to detach, clean and re-attach the NB and SB and to everyone else for their invaluable hints 'n tips.

    Cheers

    J
