This give me same results as air?

    rig in my sig.

ambient temps are high in my basement in summer, hitting 80F with humidity regularly - which is killing my air cooling, even with a lapped ninja.

this Q6600 i just got has headroom. i was running at 3.6ghz with 1.42v or so and plowing through prime small fft's for an hour but i was at the temp threshold of 71.

i am running it at 3.3ghz with 1.36-1.375v and temps with small fft's are 65. with blend of course temps are way lower, probably more real world usage but still.

i have plenty of air circulation going, with an antec tri-cool on hi mounted on the ninja pushing out the rear and the rear exhaust also on hi.

from reading on here and other forums it seems some people think the swiftech h20-120 premium will not give any performance boost. is that true?

i read other people who seem to contradict this.

i want to set up a more advanced WC rig but with the p180 case and the amount of stuff i have in it (adding another hard drive in soon) it is not possible to get a real hardcore WC setup in here without some serious modding i dont want to do.

id rather wait a couple years when i do a full overhaul to buy a nice big tower case friendly to WC'ing and do it up right, with a block on my GC as well. in the meantime, i just want to cool the q6600 and get more of the speed i know it has in it, these G0's are sick.

so, considering my budget is basically the same as the swiftech kit i mentioned, will i just end up getting the same performance as my ninja? or will i help my load temps.

i did do a lot of reading, and i read contradictions on this so i am asking. and yes i know, people will say go custom but i really dont have the money right now. just got my other 2 sticks of ram and the q6600 and i am close to broke.

if you go with the 120, you'll probably get similar performance.

    This might suit you better:

Don't know exactly when it will be available though.

And on the subject of fitting stuff on a P180...

You will get better performance out of a simple single 120mm water cooling setup than you will with an air cooler.

I've done some limited testing on a Magicool single 120mm radiator, D-TEK DB-1 pump, and Magicool CPU block that yielded better load results (by about 5C) on an overclocked E6400 (3.6GHz) which is still not putting out the kind of heat a quad does.

I can only imagine that the Swiftech H20 Premium setup (which is better in every way) would be even better.

thanks for the info so far.

that new up-coming swiftech all-in-one looks really tempting.

This is the mount I'd recommend, too.

As for water's comparison to air, you'd get slightly better temps with an almost
inaudible system (fans @ 5-7V); or you can get much better temps with similar
    noise levels.

I would also recommend the Petra's kit. Even if you do get 5C better temps from a single radiator I doubt it would be worth the cost.

this is more about being cool than reducing noise. i mean if i could do both within a certain price range sure, but more important is cooling.

my pc is not near my bed and when i move it will be in a separate room from my bedroom so noise is not much of an issue.

ill go with a dual 120mm fan radiator for sure i think. i guess ill wait for reviews of the new swiftech 220 when it comes out mid-august and see.

    If you must...

But remember, you should have your res / t-line right before the pump, or you might run into trouble.

Also longer tube runs and increased amount on bends affect negatively the performance of the loop.
