Perhaps the most interesting item on display - at least to us anyway - was AMD's Phenom powered demo system. We weren't able to ascertain the clock speed or run any benchmarks, but we were still able to glean some good information about the system and CPU.
Made the rest of the story moot!

I can see them not being able or allowed to run benchmarks but not being able "to ascertain the clockspeed"..Pluuuuese..If someone's going to BS me at least try to make it beleivable..
How difficult would it be to see the machines speed? 2 left clicks maybe?

They were being supervised in case you missed the previous story with that AMD guy sitting behind them. And i guess breaking the rules would mean no more exclusives from AMD at the very least.
Seems we made our greatest error when we named it at the start
for though we called it "Human Nature" - it was cancer of the heart

I do understand but my point remains the same. Without knowing the speed a machine is running it all you can talk in is in the vaguest generalities and therefore you really don't have any exclusive other than to say " Gee, it seems pretty responsive"
I can take my clover rig, turn the multi to 6, the ram to stock 333 and you have a 1998mhz 8 core machine that still is pretty decent but nowhere near the power of 3157mhz that I run it at.
That was my thinking when I said without knowing the speed of the machine you have no reference to appraise it.

didn't see anyone post these ones from Fuad. If true, looks like AMD may actually have some good news to compete with although they are ultra expensive to make.

Then they should have told AMD they wouldn't comment on performance, Temps and or etc..... otherwise=P In fact, the whole market should tell AMD to piss-off until they can give them something tangible. Dewd, this one wasn't IMHO!

Let's see, it was running cool, well hell, if it was running at about 1.6 or 1.8GHz it should be running cool. Big deal. It's not like they can say it was running at 2.8GHz and cool. How do we know it wasn't an older core?

Again, do I need to link to some of the crap said about Intel During the first Conroe tests where Intel actually at least let them see the speed of the processor and etc..? How about a couple of weeks later when they let Anand and gang test one on their own? Barcelona is what, 5 weeks away from launch? People here were called Intel Plants when they got Conroe posted results on this forum. LOL, one even called Fugger an Intel employee at [H].

The corners are the one nearest the partial dies or the complete ones far-est from the Center.

We should all go to AMD and say:

WE NEED MORE INFO ON PHENOM!!!!!!
"To exist in this vast universe for a speck of time is the great gift of life. Our tiny sliver of time is our gift of life. It is our only life. The universe will go on, indifferent to our brief existence, but while we are here we touch not just part of that vastness, but also the lives around us. Life is the gift each of us has been given. Each life is our own and no one else's. It is precious beyond all counting. It is the greatest value we have. Cherish it for what it truly is."

They do but a different class of enthusiasts.
Most notably the Server enthusiasts with high end only demands with absolutely unlimited budgets

Yeah, it seems all they care about anymore is server people. It's almost as if they're completely ignoring desktop enthusiasts

    Desktop Enthusiast AMD

I have loved AMD since the K7 days, but I tire of AMD not revealing any more info than they already have given us on K10. Why don't they stir up a bit and show us some Phenom vs Q6600?

Even if Phenom is like R600 and takes a little tweaking then it becomes something awesome for the $, I'll buy it. But if it doesn't live up to its expectations, then Intel, you've sold me a Core 2 Quad.

let us imagine for a second, that you sell tacos.
there are 50 people that will pay you $1 per Taco and 3 people which will pay you $50 a taco. Which people are you going to design your tacos for?

There's no such group as "Server enthusiasts" and "with absolutely unlimited budgets". Only you could come up with something so far fetched but why am I not surprised? Again, if these types of users from your imagination were a force to be reckoned' with, there would be many sites dedicated to them. I'm sure these sites would be at least as popular as this one. Come on, give us a link and not .gov ????????
