    thank you.

@ mariosimas, on your pictures in this thread ive noticed that you've not used one of the 'c' heatsinks on the power regs / volt regs. is your card running fine without it? (upper right hand corner of your card)

    Excellent results!

Did the lower temps give you any benefits in more MHz in the Core/Memory?

With a custom home made clamp could this cooler be fitted to the 7x cards or is the GPU in the wrong place.

i think in that case you would use the HR-03-RevA http://www.thermalright.com/a_page/m...hr03_Rev_A.htm

there is a compatability list for cards - http://www.thermalright.com/a_page/m...t_hr03_MCL.htm

just incase anyone is wondering my card is currenty @ 660 / 1900.
Any higher on the core (670) and the machine reboots and any higher on the memory (2000) and the card artifacts.

Still im very happy though. Get's just under 10k in 3dm06 with the machine in my spec

    @Origin_Unknown

I know about the HR-03-RevA and the compatability list thanks but i wondered
if the HR-03 Plus with a custom clamp could be made to fit other cards as the HR-03 Plus has an extra two pipes with an extra 100w of cooling over the HR-03-RevA.

    Alright, I caved.

    AC MX-1 TIM

    Room temp: 25C

    ATI Tool + RTHDRIBL 57C

In general the overall "heat pileup" w/ the stock cooler's gone. I made sure to press the little sinks on tough and none have fallen off. The only I have...the HSI gets pretty hot and the little flat RAM jobbies get EXTREMELY HOT!! I sure wish TR would design a solution to angle up so we can use the normal RAM sinks. The true test will be finding out of RAM OC's still stable. Pics tomorrow...

EDIT: Just ran 3D2K6 and it tops out @ 56C, lol. That's almost a 30C drop from stock!

    EDIT2: pics!!

Old thread, but I'm buying the HR-03 and have a question.

Are the original ram sinks that bad? Is it worth buying the swifttech ones?

If they do fall off would they cause the 8800 to fry?

    Thanks ;o

Apparently there's some lame sticky thermal pads. I used 99.9% alc from fry's and pressed them on for a good 20-30 seconds each. Then I let em sit for awhile...no rush. Not a single one has ever fallen out and I've been to 2-3 LAN parties since installing it a few months ago.

I'll tell you what, tho, that video I/O and the little bitty sinks get REALLLY hot! I would have loved to seen a bigger I/O sink and a curved pipe so the 3 ram chips in the middle could have normal sized sinks.

Aside from that, it idles around 50C and loads maybe 65C here in sunny AZ!

at first i was a bit worried as the sticky tape on the back of the VREG (c heatsinks) was not very tacky and came off with the slightest knock. After a bif of a burn in the tape bonded to the vreg's and now is on quite secure.

you could replace some of the heatsinks for the ram but the ones under the heatpipes you will not be able to replace so easly.

Isn't that too much paste? I place very thin layer of as5 only. I usually get the excess amount using a credit card.

BTW, did you guys lap the bottom part of the heatsink? It looks the same as ultra 120 extreme, it will give better temperatures that way

Nah the base isnt that bad... it's lapable though.... (lapable? lol)

Here's a heads up... the Asus p5K-D P35 I have (and I assume all P35's) are not at all friendly to this card in conjunction with a sound card... the bottom of the 92mm fan nearly SITS on top of my X-fi Platinum... as it stands, I'm going to sell this on ebay and get a better solution...

I'm getting either an Abit P35 or a Gigabyte P35, can you post pictures to show what the problem is?

And thanks for the quick response guys.

The Asus Commando also had a lower 1st PCIe slot that gave me very little room when using a 120 on top (er bottom?) of HSF. I wound up w/ the DFI and there's almost an inch or two of space for air to move.

See here... I have to have some rubber separating the Fan from the sound card...

It is nearly pointless to have the HR-03 in this configuration... Idle is 54c at stock clocks and an ambient of 25c. On my P5B-D, unimpeded idle was 44c

A thought strikes me, and that thought is: why don't you just put that the other way 'round? All that'll do is take up space over your PCI-E 1x, which you aren't using anyway.

Final question does this void my warranty?

Technically yes. Use of any after-market cooling will render your warranty void.

However, if you save all the stock cooler parts, you can usually re-attach the cooler before you send in your card for RMA with noone the wiser. What they don't know won't hurt 'em
