    Help OC new TF7050-M2!!!

    I have a TF7050-M2 MB and a AMD 5200+ Dual Core AM2 chip using OCZ 6400 Plat RAM. I have tried the 6/1 "Beta" BIOS but right now using the latest official 5/31 vers. For some reason I cant get past a 215-220 Mhz HTT even though I lower the HTT multi to 4x and leave the RAM at close to stock settings. It will either not post or fail Orthos in 2 mins.

    I also cant seem to find a way to better control the divider on the RAM so it can be clocked a little higher while keeping the CPU at x speed. If I change the timings at all I cant even post! I have been lowering them or keeping them mostly the same, but cant seem to figure out a way to make it work. I have tried both the Auto and MaxMemClock but either the timings are too low or too high?

    I have a good 35%+ OC on my current single core A64 for over a year without any issues.. ** Just informational stating I am pretty familiar with OC'g and changing settings **

    A few suggestions.

    1) Go back to the BIOS that was working for your A64 for over a year. Or if you'd rather fight it out...

    2) Make sure RAM is at 2T and loose timings, try to isolate either the CPU or RAM at one time to see which one is being overstressed.

    3) Are temps normal?

    4) Use a full multiplier, silly I know but new BIOSs do silly things also, and they might hate .5's. Likewise keep RAM timings to the "big 3" 1:1 2:3 3:2. Using 5:6 etc have better chances of being buggy in my experiences.

    Keep the HTT at 4x during the tests. Even drop it to 3 if you still have problems, although I doubt this is the problem as most boards can get to 1200 HTT with out breaking a sweat.

    Let me know how it goes.

    Hey Verisimilitude, thanks....

    I guess I should have been more clear on my last statement..The Single core is a completely different system. I only mentioned that to say that I am pretty familiar with OC'g and various settings and testing stability!

    2) Yep, I made sure my timings were loose and definitely 2T. I was really trying to isolate the CPU and RAM but thats when I was having issues lowering the CPU multi at first while increasing the ram. The settings\dividers for the RAM were not working too well for me.

    3) Temps are great! Core temp 0.95 is showing 29-30 idle and always less than 50 under Orthos!

    4) Yep, this MB only offers a full multi 4-12x. I choose the 12x, 11x, with a 4X HTT bus and tried to increase the RAM but it did not seem to work too well.

    What ram do you have? I was having the same issue as you. Try a few of these things.. oh, and pardon my horrible camera. Kodak sucks. The image is curved like an old CRT yet I have an LCD. Sigh.

    Oh, the RAM is OCZ 2GB 6400 Plat.

    Nick, one more thing before I try these. It seems everytime I change the Memory Clock value or Limit to a lower DDR (667, 533) it lowers the timings as well as the freq. Is this normal? I would think I would want the timings the same and just lower the clock speed since it would be increased due to the HTT or CPU increase?

    Checked out your other thread, quoting here for reference.

    The problem is I am not able to use a simple "divider" and control the speed and timings of the ram. It seems like the ram divider changes based on the cpu Multi instead of the cpu speed. I can manually choose DDR 400-800, and it increases the divider, but also lowers the timings! Is there an option I am missing or how can I choose my own divider on the ram so I can keep it around 440MHz or so when the CPU is at its max. I am trying to get a Max 3Ghz clock (12x Multi, 250FSB, HTTx4) But at this rate the ram would be around 500MHz. So far I am only able to get about 2.75Ghz stable with a 390Mhz ram 4-5-5.....1T timings...
    Skipping the novice things (like voltages etc). You have explored every menu and sub-menu of the BIOS? It usually takes me a good 30-45 minutes to go thru an entire BIOS (I like to know what options I have). Here is where I'd go from here:

    1) First I'd try to boot at HTT 1200. If it works don't set it far from 1000, maybe the HTT multi is playing tricks with the other components.

    2) I'd go thru everything in the BIOS

    3) Most boards now use a MHZ for the Divider option, and you have something set to auto if it is messing with your timings. If you can't find it see if there is another older BIOS to fall back on.

    Post a link to your board specs with your RAM and CPU if these don't work.

    I didn't notice this. Try the TRFC @ 127.5NS first. I was experiencing the same problems as you before I tried that. Even if I had 210MHz HTT before and I tried the 667MHz divider it wouldn't post.

    ** Update ** So far things are working much better. I was able to get 230Mhz working and stable so far with RAM at ~420Mhz. Now I am going up from there trying to max out the RAM with stock timings first (5,5,5,18,26).

    I think the CPU multi AND the RAM selection (800,667,533) have to do with the RAM Mhz divider! Will post back soon.

    Yeah they do, AMD is weird like that, esp. w/half multi's.



    That can be of some assistance I guess, though it doesn't have the 9.5x multi that the Brisbane 3600+ uses.

    Hey Nick, thanks, That helps alot!

    I also found out that the MB had the stock DDR volts at 1.9 when my RAM suggests from 2.1 - 2.2! I upped it to 2.1 for now and will see how far I can get. So far its much better.............

    Ok, I kept the RAM volts within the suggested at 2.15v. With that and 5,5,5,18,26 timings I maxed at 430-435 Mhz stable. 440 failed with errors.

    Now I brought it back to ~390's Mhz and trying to OC the 5200 CPU. I upped the volts 0.012v and CPU-Z shows it at 1.312 - 1.344. So far its failing Orthos at 2771 Mhz. 2750 seemed ok so far but not 100% or 24hrs testing.

    My question is what is a good safe and healthy volts I should use for this CPU? I can up the volts 0.025 at a time...Should I increase it a little more?

    Oh, my MB temps are a bit off due to the bios, but core temp shows in the 30's under orthos!

    Thanks everyone for all the help...I Finally got things working pretty good.

    I was able to get about 2950 Mhz but the temps were getting in the 60's, so I backed down. I am now at 2860Mhz and Orthos stable! Temps 30/48

    As for the RAM. Initially I increased the trfc values hoping that would fix things. Well it may have but I think most of my RAM issues were due to it being clocked at lower than suggested voltage! It was at about 1.9v so I changed it to 2.15v. Now I was able to move trfc back down to its lowest setting 75ms, and lower the timings a bit too.

    This was a build for a friend so I am pretty happy with the results. Thanks!
