My system in my signature... Having troubles with overclocking... Every time I think I have a stable overclock, the computer will just randomly turn off, I will run orthos for hours... And then for no apparent reason, just reboots, even though orthos showed no errors...

Any ideas?

ıf there is someone has a p35c ds3r and using vista ultimate 32 like me, please tell me if your system freezes while shutting down. I reformatted twice but it is still the same. If I restart, there is no problem but when ı want to shut down, it freezes while shutting down. ıt simply doesn't turn off the computer.

Its prolly the new Nvidia drivers. Mine started to hang up on a reboot with the new Vista Blow-vidia drivers.

My DS4 does exactly the same as yours with the E2140. I think we've really hit the proverbial fsb wall there, unfortunately.

It just depends on the processor.
As soon as I mounted my Prommi FSB wall raised to 395 stable, 400 dead-end.
Think I will go for a different chip next weekend.

P35c-ds3r and E6300, 443fsb seems to be highest that i can do with this, it will freeze computer after that 6x or 7x so maybe thats the limit, F3b bios now, havent tested others if they help but i doubt it. Dunno if i lapped it badly but even now with tuniq tower 120 it gets +80c full load @ core temp / tat, lots of other software says ~15c less.

If it matters on this but some ppl say core temps shows 85tjunction but mine says 100.

Nice board anyway, havent got any problems yet

maybe, because after installing 163.11 it doesn't freezes while shutting down any more instead the monitor goes blank but the computer is still on

ı do 480 fbs 12 and more hours stable with +0.2 mch voltage and +0.3 fsb voltage and f3b bios

Other mem dividers except 3.0 ie 2:3 are not working

figured out the mem divider issue. I had subtimings manually adjusted and board likes them left to auto, at least for my memory.

I can run now 450fsb at 1:1 memory default mch, fsb, pci-x voltages, and I think default cpu voltage. However anything past that gets hard. 475 posts bios but nothing past. Even 6x multi. I took off NB heatsink and applied paste, no help.

Going to try some 6300 cpus I have lying around. Think I'm at cpu limit .

OK, but not the first time I hear of trouble with Ram & DQ6. Board can get very fussy with what and what combination of sticks you use. Heck even my Corsair Dominators would hardly overclock at all on my DQ6 & this is with F4 bios.

They are all the same brand and model. Think I should RMA any of them or just wait for a compatible BIOS?

I would try them in another mobo with that same config, thats the only way to tell if its the board or the ram.

I ran each chip by itself, each in different pairs and then all together and got no errors with Memtest.

I am at a loss....

Re: NB Heatpipes. Were rev 1.0 based on the 90nm process as stated by Anandtech? Rev 1.x is 65nm, runs cooler and no longer needs the heatpipes? If it was just to make more room for larger HSFs, they could make the heatpipe shorter instead of replacing it with a standard Heatsink.

You should probably use a different program than memtest as it doesn't always register instability. My G.Skills would give random reboots but memtest wouldn't show any errors even after 11hrs. Orthos would only run for a minute or less before giving errors.

Not saying Orthos is the best choice but it's a start.

Doubtful. Intel never does 'just' a die shrink, if they shrink the die, they generally will give it a name change also.

Thanks irenic & Interesting, can you do a 32Mb run? 1Mb sits in the cpu cache too much to see the ram play a part.

i will definitely try 32m after i install my wc.. but for now the max stable PI for 1.5vcore 4ghz is 4m..

I have a big problem,i bought a p35 dq6 impossible to assemble it the Vcore>1.525,in the bios information it is written "VCORE FAIL" but on my p5b deluxe
the cpu is more stable at 1,65 without problems.

Under full load my NB goes up to 63C according to Everest, this is with FSB @451 and +0,15v. It seems a bit high to me but then I don't know how accurate this temperature reading is. What temps are you guys getting?

Yes. The complete setup is in my sig. I have been running on 2GB (2 x 1GB) of my 4GB (4 x 1GB) OCZ PC2-6400 Platinum Edition XTC for 2 days now and not one hitch.
