Where in my post did I say P35 was not a performer? I didn't even mention the word P35. Yes I own a P35 motherboard, it's what is pictured in my avatar. The thing is, I didn't even mention 680i either - what post are you reading, because it isn't mine?

I recommended the Asus P5K because Gigabyte boards are highly ironic that they have massive sinks of them but don't actually overclock any better. Which is then more ironic being as they loosen up the northbridge more than other boards to scale higher.

Gigabyte loosen their P35 boards chipset strap to performance level 10 at 417FSB, I'm sure you can find this information in Stilts thread about memset and changing bearlake performance. This is backed up by Pedro's thread on the Gigabyte board where his SuperPI scores were slow for the overclock obtained.

The latest Asus bios' for both P5K DLX and P5K3 have chipset performance level changes. Yet there are also the latest bios that have made performance drop because of loosening internal latencies according to bingo13 and eva2000 as the end users are only concerned for FSB, and not the sweet point of finding the fastest optimum.

No where in my post did I say anything about P35 in general, only the boards in question and as to why I believe the P5K and IP35-Pro are the best choices. I obviously like the P35 platform, hence owning a board myself.
