By the way superray what kind of numbers are you getting with them (how bad are they)? Also have you been able to reallly test them (CAS3, CAS4, CAS5, etc..)? You are the first person I've heard from who wasn't impressed with these modules. Last but not least do you happen to know what IC's their running?
Don't let my experience disappoint you. In this post, you can see a lot of people are very happy with their Tracers.
Sorry I don't know the IC's, because if I take the heatspreaders off, it'll be hard to get them back on since the clips are so loose.

LOL one look at the neatness of my screenshots you can tell i'm anal about nice round numbers

    But here ya go

@665.8Mhz 5-6-5-9 6-35-8-6-8 at 2.55v which is the highest memory frequency I've done to complete Super Pi 32M on any motherboard. Previous best was @650mhz 5-5-5-18 on Asus 680i Striker Extreme with 2x1GB OCZ PC2-9200 FlexXLC at 2.550v.

Your great advice is well taken

I've change the Vdimm down 2 intervals from 2.3v to 2.2v and now it's at 5-5-4-9-3-25-3-3-5.
My heart can rest easier now

Ballistix Tracer D9GMHs are not bad for CL5s

just grabbed a kit of the non-tracers + a DS3P so i will post my results tommorrow and onwards
i know the normal ones aren't the same as tracers, but they use the same chips right? i would think the onyl difference is one has LEDs and the other doesn't. someone confirm please :]

They use different PCBs for the most part although some non tracer use the tracer one. They should OC exactly the same though.

Got my 4x1gb worth of them today. I ordered the regular version and they sent me tracers (oh well).

First run with all 4 gigs 500mhz 5-5-5-13 2.2v on my abit IP35 pro with 500fsb. Went down to 2 gigs and got the usual 600mhz 5-5-5-13 with 2.2v

Testing now at lower speed 550mhz with 5-4-4-9 2.2v. $ gigs is a little harder to oc with less volts. Still not bad for 15min worth of playing.

@eva2000 ...... hey, I am getting favorable results with the Ballistix Tracer 8500 finally now since they gave me a RMA on my board so my question is for day to day 24/7 is it advisable to run this ram at my current 950MHZ 4-3-3-10 2T @1:1
with 475 FSB with the Ram at 2.25V?

Thanks for helping I am new to the new Intel and have more to understand yet although its much easier to O.C vs AMD

24/7 i tend to keep around 2.1-2.2v with active fan cooling but should be fine

Was forced to remove the heatspreader on one of my 8500 Tracer modules as the heatspreader was installed incorrectly - off center to the left making it impossible for me to install in dimm slots.. looks like Micron D9GMH to me http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=149928

Does the chip in the middle of the PCB for those LEDs only?
as all of my ballistix's are empty on that particular part.
but same on your -18F GMH chips!
