Chuck, that is what I was thinking... but it was stable in Small Stress CPU Test without ram with over 9 hours at 1.39Vcore. Does that matter? I guess I will just wait and get Quad Core on July 22nd with lower FSB.
I don't call a system stable unless it can loop 3DMARK06 and the dual core ORTHOS for many hours with no errors. Or some other extreme testing.
If I was you, I would set every thing to default, pick the multiplier you want to use and up one thing at a time, and test, till I reached my maximum overclock.
I did not want to change my multiplier because every time I did my video benchmarks went down. I do find that kind of thing. Sometimes when you are close to the system limits, when you increase one thing another goes down.
So I worked worked with the default multiplier of 9. I am using a bus speed of 360 and a FSB 1440 MHz. I can overclock this system a little more, but I pulled it back a some.
I believe in a balanced system vs. everything maxed out. I have maxed out systems before and after a few months , or more, the overclocking ability decreased substantially.
I want a 4 core with a 1333 MHz FSB. I don't think I will change the board for a while. Even though, It will be tempting to go with the DDR3 etc.
One strange thing about my settings. If I run at looser default memory timings, I get an overclock failure.

Hmm doesn't work fine by me. I still have it
But i'm still running on a low bios: 0804, didn't had the mood to try the higher versions because going back is inpossible. My SB and NB Voltages are higher than the voltages said here, so I don't think that could be a problem.
And if I wanna try the different 1000 bios, which one should I take? And is there really no going back or is this only with the windows tool?
Edit: Lol it works with that Voltages :S
But i've still got the question about the Bios![]()

My Asus P5B/E6300 system is perfectly stable at 470FSB and can perform all tests successfully. I use stock cpu voltage of 1.32v. Ram is crucial in overclocking and most freeze-ups, bsod, ect, are caused by ram running too fast, or the ram timings too tight, or insufficient ram voltage...or a combination of all three.
I am lucky as my ram will run at 1050 Mhz @ 4-4-4-12 timings with the ram voltage at 2.1v. Unfortunately my cpu cooler is not up to scratch and excessive heat prevents me from running stability tests at 525FSB or higher, (other than Super Pi). I run the ram on "Auto" voltage in the bios @ 470FSB, which seems to be the sweet spot with this m/b cpu combo. In fact I leave all bios settings on Auto except for cpu voltage @ 1.3875v, which delivers 1.325v to the cpu.

I am having trouble getting a post when I decrease the multiplier. I have had no problem getting a stable post using the default multiplier of 9. I have tried to use 401 to 450 FSB with a 7 and 8 multiplier and I cannot even get the bios to post. Any ideas.....Thanks

Im probably missing something extremely obvious but ill ask anyway:
I have a RAID 0 set up with two raptors the way it stated in the manual and now when I go to install the RAID drivers it BSODs during the XP install and when I don't it doesn't recognize the drive at all.
Anybody know whats up here?

hey guys, got an oc problem here. I was just testing something to get 3.4ghz and i had the ram at 425mhz (5-4-4-40 with 2.15v and cpu with 1.35v and i had some reboots due to instability and one time i got a bsod about the bios not being acpi compatible(acpi 2 is disabled so thats why i think) then when i restarted theres beeping and i get a "RAM R/W test failed" message- it seems the oc didnt get reset and it still says 3.4ghz and anway it freezes after that.
Any ideas? thx
EDIT: mm ok the failed overclock reset settings kicked in after a few attempts so its all good now, phew.

I am using 1201 for all of my clocks now , It works insanely well stability wise.
I think I found it somewhere in this thread

Thanks Chukbam. Been on work travel and finally getting some time to build my system. I used the 4 (Red) SATA Intel ports (I found out that I can only hook up four drives for RAID 5) and went into BIOS and set SATA to RAID. I am at the point for additional questions before I continue. (1) Should I update my BIOS ? currently it is 0604. If so, do I need to start with 0701 and continue through 1101 ? The ASUS forum notes if you have a BIOS version greater than 0302 there is no need to perform an update.(2) Should I use any of the files on the ASUS provided CD ? (3) When and how should I use the Intel Matrix Storage Console software ? I have downloaded it. (4) I will installing WinXP Pro, Will this be the final step ? Many TIA
i do have an p5b-deluxe and i'm stuck with the idiot problem called
CMOS CHECKSUM ERROR.
CHASSIS INTRUDED.
FATAL ERROR.SYSTEM WILL NOW HALT.
I must say that i've tried every single method of reseting the CMOS but everything has failed.Could someone tell a solution to this idiot problem?
it'd help to stop intruding :p
but can you check the chassis intrusion pins on them otherboard? maybe the jumper fell off
