    32M - Quick 2 x 1 Gig DDR2 and 4 x 1 Gig DDR2 Test.

No tweaks, other then turning off UAC in Vista 32.
everything else, just plain old run normally.

    for 1M 4 x 1 is about .2 faster, then 2 x 1 gig.

    Ram Used - 4 x Mushkin PC8500 (D9GMH)
    Board - Asus 680i, Bios 1002.
    OS - Vista 32 Ultimate.

32M ran, shut down, installed the next set of ram, booted up, and redid the test.

so far, nearly everything shows a modest improvement with 4 sticks of ram.
    atleast, benchmark wise.

I was hoping youre wrong Kunaak but looks like youre findings are correct, unfortunately your test came a week and a half too late.... Ive been benching with 4 sticks the whole time and I finally got my first set of 2x 1G kit today..... Ive been at it for a few hours now and even with tighter timings I cant beat my best 32M ( @3600mhz) time befire when I was using 4 sticks.....

Just when I thought I was moving forward, im actually moving back .... worst part is Im behind even more than I thought.....

ErwinZ, wanna buy a set of rams, 5 hour old GKX or brand new Ballistix pc2 8500

    hi kunaak.
    very interesting findings.
i tested the same on win xp:

no tweaks, same subtimings (generally the same bios settings - of course)

i just made 4 runs one after another... and took the average (last column)

    2x512 vs. 2x1024 vs. 4x1024 vs. 2x512+2x1024:
    superpi 1m & 2m:

    conclusion:

4x1024 is faster than 2x1024 is faster than 2x512 is faster than 2x512+2x1024

btw: i used the asus p5b deluxe.

i will test with asus commando now.

I see... see... but I am strange problem... winxp do not manage well 4Gb of ram, vista yes instead, nevertheless in the superpi of KunaaK with 2Gb..."real memory 214xxxxx" "available real memory 153xxxxxx" and with 4Gb "real memory 214xxxx" "available real memory 214xxxxx". Is a problem of spi that don't see total memory but used total memory??

    hi
its strange that the 32m run on win xp with 4x1gb is better than 2x1gb although it cant handle 4gb.

    anyway, here my results:

    32m:
    2x512 vs. 2x1024 vs. 4x1024:

    2x512mb

    2x1024mb

    4x1024mb

i will get 2x512mb memory so i can test 4x512 too. (hopefully mid of this week)

    @ eva2000
    which problems do you mean?

    yesterday i tried the following:

    8x450
    4:5 divider
    but it didnt work.
the hightest fsb i could get on 4:5 was 8x430 (ram: 537mhz)

no boot on 8x440 even with 3v on ram (all on cl4 - but cl5 works).
but the memory is able to handle 600 on 1:1 divider cl4 easily

supertalent 8000 and gskill 6400phu2 hz

    on P5B Deluxe can do 600mhz 5-4-4-4 at 2.6v

on Commando can't go tighter than 600mhz 5-5-4-x at same vdimm but times are as fast ???

I've never tried a P5B Deluxe, but on the commando, I've never been able to POST at 5-4-4 for some reason. 4-5-4 and 5-5-4 are fine though. But try 803 anyways. It's all I've ever used and I've never had a reason to complain about ram clocking.

    Thanks Gautum

    Anyway tried 2x1GB Team 6400C3 D9GMH + 2x1GB G.Skill 6400PHU2 HZ D9GMH @490mhz 4-4-4-9 2-25-2-2-4 on P5K Deluxe to compare with 2x1GB OCZ PC2-9200 FlexXLC @490mhz 4-4-4-9 2-25-2-2-2 on same board (FlexXLC handles tight tRTP like a champ!).

Probably not as huge a difference due to tightness of the subtimings ?

    vs
