    8800, but which one

hey, basically want some feedback from those of you who have been there and done it.

    Really, is the 8800GTX worth £100 ($200) more than the 8800GTS 640?

A little more info being, I'll be running at 1900x1200 res, playing games such as supreme commander, prey, quake 4, et quake wars when its released, stalker etc.

How much performance does the GTX offer over the GTS realistically?

Oh and also the GTX is an Inno3d version.

    Thanks.

The GTX is roughly ~25% faster on average against the GTS.

At 1920x1200 I'd advise going GTX.

Yea, I would recommend the GTX at higher resolution like that.

Otherwise the GTS is more than enough.

no one commenting about the fact that if you overclock 8800gts cards the performance does get fairly close to gtx (stock) scores !!!
but you need to get one from manufacturers that are know to have cards that clock well.. and these cards usually cost a bit more.

The HD2900XT shouldn't be considered currently due to it's AA performance hit at high-resolution. Also, it's a verrrry poor performer in s.t.a.l.k.e.r. which is one of the titles you specifically mentioned.

If you game without AA(and who pays that much for a videocard and doesn't turn on AA), then the HD2900xt might not be a bad choice though.

You can overclock the GTX to meet/beat the ultra. At 1920x1200, gpu power means everything, which is why for that resolution the GTX really is the main choice.

The Point of View 8800GTX is a good choice

they all the same youll never notice any difference.

i got an albatron 8800gts (cheapy) for the second card and it seems fine....oc's just like the other one, and besides different colour pcb they look just about identical.

All 8800GTX's are the same AFAIK. Some companies have higher-binned chips, but that's about it. They all generally overclock the same though.
