depends on the input of power, it will pull from one side to the other on either side. say you are going by color coordination of the wires, you could put + with + and - with - and it would pull ^ that way and pair + with - and - with + then it will pull V that way. get my drift? there really isnt a "definite" side, its just how you wire it.
