hmmm I have a set. Have to see what I can do with them, when I get my X6800 and Qx6700 back from Philly_boy.

I have the 8000 as well.

i didn't know the tracers had LEDs on them, till I turned off the basement light and there was a red/green aura coming from my case. I just didn't look at the RAM and didn't see the lights because its really bright with all the lights on.

and what voltage up to do Crucial still support warranty with ? Unlike other manufacturers I can't find this limit listed.

2.2 is the MAx supportet im afraid
mine is now working @ 2.2(in bios) 4-4-4-6 , 950mhz
they can go cas 3 at this speed to

thanks - will keep it to 2.25V then (nearest to 2.25 I can get with my P5B D). RAM tops out at about 1100 @ CAS5 at 2.25V (which is about 2.2V after a bit of droop)

anyone touched their heatsinks after running something like Orthos over say 30 mins ?

I just touched them on my RAM and they were rather hot - you couldn't leave your finger on them for long - and I have good ventilation on my case.

not really over-stressing them - they are at 960 MHz - 2.25V - 4-4-4-10

i have noticed mine get really hot at 2.2v also. Can't put my finger on them for very long either. Don't really care since lifetime warranty, but would be a hassle to have to send them in. But i think we are alright.

thanks zbomb for the reply - I'm not sure where you are - but here in the UK - my first set of 8500s wouldn't even do 1030 CAS5 (one module would the other wouldn't) - RMA'd them back to Crucial - sent off on the Tuesday, returned on the Friday - great service from Crucial. when you say you run your CPU at 1.53 VCore is that as set in bios or after Vdroop ? I've hit a wall at 3.35 gig with me E6600 but was wondering whether to push my Vcore higher or not - thanks.

eva2000 - no I don't - RAM modules are in front of my CPU - and if you had a fan above them it would effect the air-flow to the CPU pretty negatively.

I do have a side intake 120mm fan though.

Personally, any ddr2 modules with >2.1v vdimm would really need some form of direct airflow over them regardless.

I always have my memory actively cooled rarely hit over 35-45C even with alot of voltage and looping memtest86+ v1.70

I find 3x 60x25mm sunon 23.5cfm maglev fans strapped together side by side over modules really effective in cooling memory

My Ballistix PC8500 passed Memtest86+ v1.70 tests with the DRAM Frequency set to Auto and FSB Frequency at 266, 333 and 400. Every time that I've set the DRAM Frequency they have failed. They have usually failed Test #5 during the following checks:

FSB Frequency: 333
DRAM Frequency: DDR2-1067

FSB Frequency: 333
DRAM Frequency: DDR2-1000

FSB Frequency: 266
DRAM Frequency: DDR2-1067

FSB Frequency: 266
DRAM Frequency: DDR2-800

I'm going to do some more tests that include trying a single stick. I'll RMA them back to Newegg.

That board isnt in a case so the fans just lay on the mem. I use 2x92mm fans.

Tried my Crucial 8500 on Asus Commando 1001 and i must of been unlucky to get high 5-5-5-x stuff but 4-4-4-12 is hitting a ceiling around 540-560mhz at 2.3-2.45v... similar to my super talent 8000s and ocz 9200 flexxlc

Only my older D9s from ocz pc2-8000 titanium alpha vx2, gskill 6400 HZ d9gmh 629 batch and team 6400c3 seem to like higher 4-4-4-x clocking.

I'm getting a bit concerned about my cellshock, last 2 days have started picking up a few errors so may need a new set if i t looks like an rma 4 the cellshock.

i am not running any fan directly over the memory, but i have a spot cool somewhat in the direction of the memory, but i don't believe that much airflow touches the memory. I could care less though, lifetime warranty @2.2v so not a big deal.

1.53 is after vdroop, i usually set about 1.55 in bios, i can only do about 3.5 with 1.49 vcore on my e6300.
