Philly_boy & Cpt planet at Micro Center BYOPC Event June 2nd!

Jake and I will be attending this Build-Your-Own-PC event at the North Jersey Micro Center in Paterson NJ this Saturday...June 9th. Check out the info here. I've decided to make a run for the front page (top 20) of the 3D Mark 05/06 ORB at this event.

We'll be assembling my benching rig on a custom Danger Den Torture Rack bearing the Xtreme Systems logo for the event. EVGA has contributed a 680i board that we've volt modded as well as a kickin set of 8800GTX's that we've also volt modded and are scaling quite nicely. We'll have some LN2 cooling on the GFX cards courtesy of Iron Mods and either Chilly1 will have my cascade to me by then or we'll be running LN2 on the CPU as well. We may even run a phase driven water chiller for the NB/SB courtesy of n00b of l337. Link to see the "Golem" chiller here. I'll also be running a DD supplied water loop for the NB/SB featuring a GTX 240 rad, a D5 pump and DD Maze 4 NB/SB blocks. Corsair will be adding the icing on the cake with a set of their Dominator PC2 10000 2x1gb kits. EDIT: As Computex is this week in Taiwan, I won't be getting the Dominators in time for the run. We'll have to "run what we brung" as they say in NASCAR racing.

I'd love to see a contingent of XS'ers up there to enter this contest and/or hang out for the day. I know Jake (Cpt planet) will be there with a rig as will INJ Viper, NoL and Phelan1777. Can anyone else make it? Please chime in so I can petition for swag for everyone!!

I will be posting a work log of my progress in assembling the rig, adding in the LN2 pots, testing it out, etc here so stay tuned.

Don't expect much love from the locals as VERY few people out there have any clue as to what this is all about.
You WILL be called a nerd.
You WILL be heckled about gear...
You WILL be walking tech support...
I can almost see the look on peeps faces when you pull down 100+FPS running@1920x1080 with those 88's

They are billing it as a "Build-Your-Own-Rig" event...I am using the public spotlight to make the run for the front page of the ORB as well as bring heightened interest to overclocking in general. About lack of love from the locals....they treated us like celebrities when Eric and the guys from Danger Den were there two weeks ago, so I am expecting more of the same. Of course we'll answer questions...how many times does the general public get to see a LN2 rig in action? let alone three! Yes there will be a lot of LN2 poured that day...

I don't mind driving...but I have to leave kinda early...gotta party to attend that night. Maybe two cars might be better if some want to stay later. NJKid is also supposed to come up from Virginny to hang out with us...*starts counting heads on his fingers....me, Chris, Adam, Don, Eric*...we might need two cars at the rate we're going!

I am trying to get my rig back together so at least it looks something semblence of a PC. :-P.

My gf is driving me up, so we will have a small convoy, but this will give us some flexibility.

Maybe we can fit another body in her car (four seater and can accomodate TALL people )

I grew up right over the hill from there, in both Franklin Lakes and Wayne. Nice area ( once you get out of Paterson... ). Wish I could attend, sounds like it will be quite a show. Enjoy!

If you guys actually wanted a record you'd use ln2 (which just so happens to be there, ON THE VIDEO CARDS AT THAT) on the CPU instead of a cascade or even worse a chiller. With that gear and all ln2 jake could probably get top 5 ORB easy. If anything run ln2 on the CPU and chiller on the cards. Insulating a motherboard for ln2 is 100x easier to deal with than TWO video cards.
