Q6600 @ 3.3 1.4v Strong Drive (1.34 Actual Load) 61-62c all 4 cores. Thats through CoreTemp. Smart Guardian reports around 9-11c high depending. Make sure to take this into account when setting shutdown temp. Took 15 damn mounts of my Apogee GT to get the lowest even load temps.

Well, i've got it all wrong, but I like it :P, I have one of those cases with alot of holes in the side panel, free air flow right over the top of the vid and cpu..
Air intake in front and rear, top fan on cpu blows down, chipset blows down, exahusts out the side panel..
Sort of non-conventional.

LOL... ya.
i've had my ultra extreme here since yesterday and have run into the various things you've mentioned. although i'm not giving up on mounting it vertically. having the rear exhaust fan right there sets up too perfect of a push/pull situation.
also i think i can work something out with the PWM. the obvious issue becomes the NB and let me tell you i was about throwing a conniption fit over it. losing my mind over here. GD NB GD NB... but i think i might have something now who knows
i will prob start a thread over on dficlub with pics =) assuming all goes well which i know it never does

Any idea why Raid5 doesnt work on this board? I purposefully degraded a R5 array to see if it would rebuild without error, didn't work, second attempt, no go.

is it possible to carry over my raid-0 from my evga 680i to this mobo without breaking the raid array?

I would be willing to bet the DFI controller will recognize it just fine if you keep the drives on the same logical connectors when you do the swap, the problem will be any mismatch in drivers for peripherals... which is only an issue if the array is a system partition. If it's just data, no problem. If it is a system partition, you should uninstall all drivers for devices not present in your new system before shutting down the old system for the last time.
At any rate, it's obviously safest to backup any key data just in case.
10-4...thank you

Tried to keep my volts low as possible.
You hould be very pleased with that! 3.2GHz on air is excellent. Very reasonable voltages!
Here are my latest overclock settings after tweaking memory for low-latency.
I've also experimented with running memory at 1100MHz 5-5-5 2T but it was slower than 800 4-3-3-8 at 1T!

EvilMoe,
Where can we get that PWM water-block? Any link to it?
Thanks,
Cas
How much FSB are people getting with quads on this board?
the IN9/Quad GT block is up on the Mips site, however the block shown above is not. Will probably require some kind of adaptor to use 1/2 ID tubing too..

Raja
Over the last few days, I've done some memory testing on this board with my Mushkin 2x2GB PC2-8500 kit...
With my current stable OC at 400x9, my first priority was to tweak for low-latency at sync'd 1:1 speed (DDR2-800)... No problem with this ram at max rated VDimm of 2.3V...
SuperPi 32M...
I also tried seeing how high I could run 1T and got up to 900MHz but found the performance worse because it was running out of sync. I really need a BIOS that will let me set the x8 multi so I can try to run 450x8 and run the memory synced at 900MHz 1T!
I also tried to see how high the memory would run at 2T. I was able to get it running stable at 1120MHz at relaxed timings. Not bad given it's rated for 1066. It might do more with more juice, but it was clear that 2T even at 1100+MHz could not match the performance of 1T at 800MHz...
SuperPi 32M:
More info including a detailed review of my timings on my blog.
hey virtualrain, it looks like you're having lots of luck running 1T with this board. From your testing, is 800Mhz CAS 3-3-3-9 1T 1:1 link+sync faster than 1200Mhz CAS 4-4-4-12 2T 2:3?
