    I found my cpu hits a voltage slope around 460 and peaks at 510 @ 1.5v (1.45 real). It's sweet spot is 7x450 @ 1.3v (around 1.24v real).

So i dropped the multi and am running it at 533x6 (3.2Ghz) to peak my ram. It likes it just fine.

I have an old revision and very very limited jumper free settings

Triskleon, there's no unlinked mode in p965's. Closest you can do is 1:1.

mrtheshaggy, 533 with old rev p5b vanilla! Quite impressive. Don't be so sad about lack of voltage control. It looks like those older rev's are clocking better than the new ones.

That said, what voltages are you looking to change?? you've already go stability at 533 .

ya I know that now, was looking for something similar, but thats OK.

Running 8x400 1:1 now (E4300), only thing I changed was Vcore to 1.45, everything else is on auto. So Im pritty happy

Just one thing, FSB Voltage, is that for the NB?

None now, I'm happy with what its at. I was gonna push the memory to a higher ratio but decided to leave it alone as is.

I'm gonna wait for p5k-d prices to drop and revisions to come out. Jump on it prior to wolfdale and will worry about tweaking memory with that mobo.

ah, well at 533, I doubt you'd be able to use 4:5 . But if you did want to use 400fsb with 2:3, vdimm pencil mod shouldn't be too hard to find

vfsb is the same as vtt. for 400fsb, you can leave at stock 1.2v

I'd recommend dropping onboard sound, disabling it via bios, and just pay $25 for a sound blaster audigy pci card.

I don't understand what you mean by that. p5n uses 650i. p5b uses p965. totally different

Does the newest Asus oc'ing utility work on this board? Has anyone found a way to oc it in windows?

I can get mine to boot at 500fsb X9 with 6700es and it did 470fsb X10 with the 6700 on dice. I picked up an ln2 dewar and would like to be able to oc in windows.

I was afraid of that, thats why mine is sitting on a shelf in the closet. IMO thats the biggest drawback of this board.

Yeah, I'm pretty disappointed with it too. No o/cing in windows, serious voltage sag on the CPU and vDIMM limited to 2.1v. Sheesh, all of the high-end ram wants 2.2 or 2.3 by default.

Vmods are your friend.. You also have to vmod the deluxe version if you dont want vdroop and all that so the only thing worse with vanilla is no clockgen utility. Luckily mine boots into windows at 550fsb np.

    thats true....
only vmods can put that board on another level
mine had vdimm, vdrop and vcore mods and was a pretty solid board
could hit 537 fsb.....none of the other 5 or 6 boards i had could do that

just solder some pots and get in the game......

I guess I will have too make the mods. I used to do that kinda thing all the time, but my eyes aren't as sharp and my hands aren't as steady as they used to be. Getting old sucks, I don't recommend it.

Don't blame age on it, I'm 53 and I did 5 mods on this board (vcore, vdoop, vdimm, vfsb, and vmch).

I just don't understand why Asus can't get their own oc'ing tool to work on this board? Clockgen or Setfsb would be great, but at this point I'd gladly settle for the Asus app.

Yep. Further up the thread, or maybe it was in another one, someone said that the clock chip on this board is a PITA to program.

The memory voltage is the one that bugs me. The board doesn't even support the recommend defaut voltage for the high-end ram modules.

Just pencilmod so that baseline is 2.0vdimm or something. that'd give you up to 2.3

You should use a dmm to verify the vdimm's you set. Otherwise, you could be very pissed when your ram blows up.

In my case, my 1.04g p5b vanilla is like this:
2.15 is same as setting 2.10, for 2.12v actual
2.25, 2.30, 2.35, 2.40 all actually set 2.37v. Now if you're setting 2.35 or 2.40, then fine, but 2.25 and 2.30 also set 2.37, which is no good.

    then, 2.45 actually sets 2.55v.
