Ok.. if you really want to test I calculated resistor values (using the equation shown in the guide) and get following values:

~ 9000 ohm -> 2.5 V
~ 16000 ohm -> 2.6 V
~ 60000 ohm -> 2.7 V

.. but I suggest to put potentiometer/fixed resistor (high value) in series and adjust & measure voltage in the same time !! Good luck and be careful

So i put in a ~ 27 kOhms resistor, so memvolt should be about 2,62-2,65V now. The good news is that the whole thing didn't blow up , all is working normally, 3D too... The other news is that, well, I have to wait and see if BS happens again, I can not be sure about the effectiveness of the mod.

Things are getting bad...

First: I get artifacts when I reboot the PC, the characters on the bootup screen are all weird, until the SO loads the graphic card drivers.
This doesn't happen when I boot the PC for the first time in the day, only when rebooting.

Second: I get more and more BS. The only way to stop it is to open the case, remove the capacitor and replace with another. It seems like then enhanced capacitor modification stresses a lot (!) the capacitor added. All capacitors I tried seem good the first time, but their "performance" and stability decrease with time ( a few days ).

Removed capacitor can be "recycled" putting them on the card again after some time. This IS strange...

OK, thx for foto I am 99.99 % sure there has to be some other problem with your card than 'standard black screen'. The reason is clear: the PCB layout/electrical design of the card is completely different than used in 'BS-cards' and therefore the problems MUST have different reason.

Thanks man, I appreciate you taking the time to reply. What do you think the problem could be? My opinion is the card is faulty, or the power supply (but it's a Sunbeam 550w NUO and the card worked fine the first few months I had it with this PSU). Everything is also working fine with the other AGP card I'm currently using in the computer, with the same PSU. I guess it's time to put the stock heatsink back on and RMA.

Capacitors mods (=adding extra capacitance to the power supplies) have quite limited capability to give increase to OC'ing. In some cases very good capacitance might give extra boost, but propably other means like increasing Vmem or having better cooling give better results.

In the case of BS-cards (=the card is *dead* due to ruined capacitors) there is usually a huge effect on performance (and OC'ing) by adding extra capacitor. But usable clock frequency of the BS-affected card is 'underclocked' so adding a capacitor 'fixes' card and a NORMAL clock frequency can be utilized.

Interesting. I have a BFG6800GS AGP card that "black screens". I know your guide states the BFG is not affected, but it sure seems to be. I'm at work now, but when I get home I'll take a look at the caps.

The card seems to black screen randomly. It will even do it when idling. The screen goes black, the monitor appears to be in standby, and I have to power cycle the PC to wake it back up. Does that fit the bill?

Ahh here we go mate I dunno about BFG, but i do know about GS. So definitely not only a problem for LE models. I had Gainward 6800 GS GLH (goes like hell -model) already sended away to be switched for warranty but anyway i definitely had BS in mine! Not when idle thou... but as soon as 3D activated max 1 min. Same symptoms, instant click -> monitor goes yellow (standby) and every fan in PC goes full throttle and system total halt. Only fixed by power button.

Hi, have anyone had any luck with getting rid of the noise/squeal the gainward 6800le cards make(usually in menu/loading screens, but also in games where the framerate is 150+)? I've manage to locate one source, the buzzer(cylinder thing in one of the corners). By putting some tape over it you can get rid of some of the noise, but not all.
But I cant find out what component/s make the rest of the noise. Anyone with any ideas? It seems like it isnt the only card with squealing problems and usually there is some component that is loose and makes the noise. Then some hot glue usually shut it up .

hmmm after a little more testing, it seem like a lot(if not all, not sure) of the squealing noise comes from the PSU. Thing is, i've tried 3 different PSUs(2 300w and 1 350w) and all three gets noisy in menu/loading screens. Anyone with a more powerful(say 500w) that also have the squealing problem?

Recently I picked up the new AGP Galaxy GeForce 6800 XT graphics card. I bought it for fun in Poland. It costs $95 only! Well, it employs NV40 A1 350MHz graphics processor with 8pp and 6vp and equipped with a huge Zalman cooler. The card uses 128MB GDDR SDRAM K4D263238G-VC33 chips produced by Samsung. Unfortunately, VRAM chips are clocked with 200MHz only. The card is stable at 430 MHz (core) / 260 MHz (VRAM). No any Black screen. No any voltmod. The PSU is InWin 350W.
