    Naturally.

Numbers in some games are weird, beating the GTS by 10fps, bit too much, wonder what is going on. We need proper reviews, because even VR-Zones was a bit rubbish in the IQ section. I mean.....AF comparison shots looking straight down? Wow, yea you'll surely see the difference then! :lol2

I can't believe these results, but if true, the new drivers make a difference.

i just read through some of these reviews.. I think we need to wait for a fully detailed review with good IQ tests to get a full view of how the 2900 performs.

Hopefully Anand puts up something good.

The same settings in 3dmark06. The NV was set to application control with no optimizations. So as near as possible.

I brought my GTX at launch so it's been worth it to me. I waited for the R600 with my GTX. the 8 series has had drivers issue, but now there's SLI support fully working under Linux. Have you seen the current state of the ATI drivers under Linux? The GTX has gone through speed improvements under windows and a lot of bugs fixes and I'm not willing to go through that again with the R600 when they've had penty of time to fix any driver problems. I expected a lot more from AMD/ATI. the thing I'm most disappointed in is the power consumption: is uses more than a GTX so it should be at the same level as the GTX and not the GTS.

edit: my hope for AMD now is that they can get crossfire to work in any dual 16x slot board.

Then i think you should compare them again. How pictures with different file size and visible differences can be the same pixel for pixel escapes me.

How many months for Nvidia to fix all bugs and brought all those features? A lots.
Is 8 series bug free actually? No (try Call of Juarez).
I can say nothing for Linux i don't use it.
I agree for being late and bring immature drivers.
For power comsumption i personnaly don't care so much and sometimes i ask myself why everybody speaks about it. Everybody overclocks (here) their stuff and i don't think it's for improving power comsumption.

Yeah and there are many who bought the 8800GTX and didnt give two licks about that particular game at the time. My give it a try now though.

I mainly bought an 8800GTX to actually be able to run Oblivion outside at +35FPS maxxed; That means at 1600x1200 or higher, 4xAA, 16anis and HDR, with grass, shadows and waters details set as high as possible, not those pseudo "maxxed" settings I hear G70 owners claim to run smoothly at. I wasn't being that mad, my logic was that it its the only thing with the juice for Oblivion, then it has a decent shot at the future too.

in the comparison the gtx(?) definitely missed the pin on the front of the balloon.

regarding power consumption, anybody knows why nvidia disabled 2d clocks on the g80? i flashed the bios already and it's working but not perfect, sometimes i have to start rthdribl and close it again to "jumpstart" the 2d clocks, sometimes it just works.

won't the 8800 consume less power with lower clocks on idle? if so why didn't they enable it?

For power comsumption i personnaly don't care so much and sometimes i ask myself why everybody speaks about it.
if you're working hard for your money it will matter, even a $1 discount on soap can bring some relief when squeezing the budget, so savings on the electricity would be great.

I do appologize. I redid the diff on the dragon and found that there are some differences, but the difference is so minimal that its not even worth mentioning.

Some parts of the dragon and balloon have differences, but its a few pixels here and there.

    here is the image

I see what I see, and you see what you see. I can't make you see what I see, but I can tell you what I see is not what you see. Truth is, we see what we want to see, and what we want to see is what those around us see. And what we don't see is... well, conspiracies.

We really should see it in motion to judge, same for the AA blurring.

well in theory you could do a diff in motion by caputing all of the frames in BMP format and then going through and doing diff for every frame.

doing it by hand would take a year or so, but if there was some way to automate it, in theory it could be done. FYI though, it would require a seriously fast raid to do the capturing in lossless BMP

    Bring on the POWER

Oh no my power bill might go up a whopping $3 max a month from my X1900XT if I leave my system on all the time idling and add $2.38 if its running full power all the time for 24/7 for 31 Days. Might go broke from that hehe. Then again if I have my system on for periods of time I try to lower consumption by running slower OC on my CPU, and surely if I start using a 3rd party tool agian I'd drop my 2D clock and voltage as well.
