ok... i think there's some improvement to do.. i have compare with the score you have got with 8800ultra.. the real difference is in SM2.0, SM3.0 is more close ( in FPS)... this remember the 7900, x1900...
This is nice Guess, i don't know yet if i wait xtx, or if i go for 2x 2900XT.. but really think seriously to xtx..
I haver just compare with my score with Cfire... E6700 was around 4.2ghz: '05: 24'070 and '06 13290... lol for me it's good single card do better of my Cfire system..
I wait with a lot of attention your cfire test...

OOoooooooooooohIts looking good. Definatly share up the results on the 8.38 ones. And if you can, more or less for an idea for us non, extreme clockers
run a dual core at 3.6Ghz and share the scores.
Thanks for sharing the results it helps alot.

I just noticed the bios date on these cards is March 1, 2007. Though not terribly old, newer bioses on Retail XT cards is April 19, 2007 if I remember correctly. Perhaps with a refined bios flashed to future cards we may see more performance? I am sure there have been quite a few changes in tweaking in the 6 weeks between bios releases.

ok heres the deal:
There will be two versions of the XT available.
1st: 2900 XT 512mb gddr3 743/828 default clks
2nd: 2900 XT 1gb gddr4 749/1009 default clks
For the price difference of 1gb version not really worth it as
the gddr3 version can hit 1000mhz on mem. anyways.....![]()
Dynasty--So there will be BOTH a 512MB and 1GB version available at launch? This is the first I've heard of this. I thought that the 1GB versions were only for resellers, not retail?
Project:
[sigpic][/sigpic]
Dynasty beat me to it for clarifying. Right now, the 1GB R600 is also an XT, there is no XTX until 65nm.
Nice results Denny, do you have a waterblock you could toss on it to test with soft volt mods?
Formerly XIP, now just P.
Damn, if that is the case I may get the 1GB version. If performance is the same that is fine, I just think 512mb is kinda on the low side for storing lots of textures at high AA/AF. If I could get the same performance as the 512mb but know I have the extra memory to play with if needed then that is great. Overclocking that card is just icing on the cake too. I sure hope a 1GB shows up in actuality and in reasonable numbers without too high of a price increase.
DYNASTY.... wondering more on this... would it still be better to get the 512mb GDDR3 variant if it overclocks to 1ghz due to lower latency? I am curious if the lower latency of the GDDR3 will net better performance than the higher latency of the GDDR4 at same clocks or even if the GDDR4 is only slightly higher in clocks (1100 for GDDR4 vs. 1000 for GDDR3)?

I want one! Q3 so far away for R650 and XTX
If those 1gb XT versions come out, I may have to get one for now till the XTX is out.
