    P-35 DQ6 arrived!

UPS just delivered, the heatpipes are HUGE!!!!!
I mean massive, alot bigger then those on the 965P-DQ6...wider and much taller, i forsee major issues with large aftermarket heatsinks people.

The area around the CPU socket is tight, i have a Scythe Ninja Rev B which i will try install...though i can't see it happening.

Thankfully i have a stock Intel heatsink i can use until i find an alternative, there appears to be a new ITE chip on the board but Google finds nothing.

IT8268R..closest i can find on the ITE site is an IT8266R which appears to be an overclock controller:

    http://www.ite.com.tw/product_info/P...f-IT820x_2.asp

The ITE Super I/O is still the ITE8718F-S which was made 0712, Gigabyte SATA2 chip is 0648 and is just a Jmicron JMB363. There is also an Intersil chip and an ICS chip...hard to see the codes/dates.

Then you have the Realtek 889A codec and Realtek RTL8111B...pleas note, new Vista drivers for this now available at Realtek:

    http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/...&GetDown=false

I was waiting for the drivers to be posted, up today

Layout seems very similiar to the 965P-DQ6, please note...i have been given a new beta bios for the P35-DQ6, it's F4K. I will report back on this beta.

    Since it's "K" i'd say it's an advanced/pre release F4 bios.

When i get a magnifying glass i'll report more on the other chips.

Thanks for letting us know the fitment around the CPU compartment.
You answered my concern for the aftermarket heatsink issue, looks like most ppl are going to buy something that fits including myself.

good to see your still using the gigabyte boards rich.

not sure why your waiting for drivers to be posted, use the cd that came with it.
go to intel.com and download drivers from there also.
realtek of course can usually be found on their site as you have found out already.

let us know your initial thoughts on voltage droop etc etc.

dont forget drop that multi and give her hell!

That's a beta motheboard, the retail is different...the "Crazycool" backplate *is* copper this time. I compared my revision 2.0 P965-DQ6 to the P35-DQ6...the P35 is definately copper, not painted aluminium.

i was able to clockgen over 500MHz FSB with ease, seems like it has potential.

It looks like it has nice build quality.

All of the heatpipes and crazy cool is VERY ANNOYING!

removing crazy cool is a pain.

the supplied back screws are too short, i had to add some paper washers to insure a tight northbridge.

I LOVE the fact that the P35-DQ6 actually uses screws, not crappy clips like asus. You can get a much tighter heatsink connection with the northbridge.

I should note that tuniq tower didnt fit exactly right for me. It still fits, but fan barely hits a heatsink on the northbridge.

Can anyone post pics of a Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme mounted on this board since that's about the top heatsink at the moment?

mine seems like aluminum with copper color paint

did anyone notice the problems removing crazycool? The screws dont screw enough to really tighten the northbridge.

Bingo, did you have that problem?

I hope they did not make a change on the cooling, who knows with the price of cooper bouncing up and down. My board is number 4 off the production line. I have not tried to remove the cooling system yet, will do that shortly after benchmarks are completed. As far as overclocking, getting around 572 with a E6300, around 554 with E6600, testing Quad, E6420, and X6800 next.

The Vdroop is better, i have the Vcore set manually to 1.4V. With my Revision 2.0 965P-DQ6 the Vdroop was worse, under load it would drop to 1.360V under load.

Ignore the 6x multi...the bios is dropping to the lowest multi when not in heavy use. I have some info on the chips used on the board i have:

The Intersil chip is ISL6327-H0705BBKD, it's made 0705.
ITE IT8268R, it's made 0706...this appears to be a new chip, must be an overclock controller for the memory and the ICS chip i belive controls the CPU...correct me if i'm wrong.

    ICS is made 0711, codes: ICS07117329859, 9LPR5587EGLF

I have the DS4 and a Thermalright ultra extreme and it hits the nortbridge HS but is somehow still mountable.

It seems like it moves the heatsink base of the ultra a few mm offcenter.

Im having trouble overclocking this effectivly since i dont know the default voltages of anything but the cpu. All settings are +x.xx over standard but since only current cpu voltage is displayed.
Anyone know all the default voltages and how much you can safely push them?

Vdimm is 1.8V. You can push the vFSB and vMCH to the max if you need to, just have some airflow over the NB. I believe stock vmch is 1.2...

so the only difference between the DQ6 and the DS4 is 12-phase vs 6-phase power?

If any of you Gigabyte P35 board owners want to test something that might help developing Memset for P35 chipset please send me pm containing your email address. Set the message title to "Memset test"

The test is very simple and it only takes few minutes.
