Chartered. Remember my couple of posts mentioning their expansion of Module B. The speed at which the contractors were buidling it was astouding. By now the OHTs (Overhead Tranporters) are fully functional and almost 3/4 of the equipment needed would at be their allocated locations. Chartered/AMD is serious about 45nm production and its no surprise that AMD is Chartered's biggest customer. I wouldnt be surprised if AMD was funding the expediting of Module B.....

amd talk about releasing a "tsunami" of new stuff...but that's more like 2008 isn't it?

..but i thought new amd opterons this year actually i have no idea what's going on at all

That's true but this is SRAM and logic.

According to Chartered they will have a 45nm fab ready by Q3 2007 for genenral prod. For low power on Q1 2007, but that is distant from working CPU samples ready to market

Intels had logic too. You simply need some logic for control and such. So their first wafer came from IBM to help their image. Now they release their first home made one. With 65nm still ramping I dont see 45nm anytime soon from AMD....

Just a little sidenote for those talking about foundries. TSMC got 65 and 45nm too. But its simply not ready for CPu or even GPU grade. AMD still struggle with 65nm on their GPU.

Roughly you can say 65nm aint 65nm when comparing. Or 45nm for that matter. We already make some memory at 50nm as example. But thats lightyears from making CPUs or the simpler GPUs.

This is just a bit different.

No...IBM had their 45nm within 6months of Intel. Unless AMD owns the Fishkill facility...
