    I see three paths for the refrigereant to flow but only one path has an uninterrupted path to the suction. How does the other two paths efficiency effect the evap given that the expanded refrigerent has to travel back over the liquid refrigerant.

    I'm not exactly following what your saying John.

    The red dot is where the cap tube will feed and the blue dot is where the suction will be.

    All brazed up. I put the evap in my drill press with three equal length and hopefully equal pressure copper rods holding the cap in place while I brazed. I did purge and inside of evap is still shiney. I can look in the suction line and see the shining star.
    Moving forward with enclosures and system design.

    That looks great! Few questions though .

    What rods did you use and with/without flux?

    What grit sandpaper did you use on the face of the evap?

    How long did it take to clean it up as good as that ?

    It took me at least an hour to clean. I've got a round fiber wheel that I put on a drill that I use first. I put my drill in my vise and clean the extra brazing alloy off the sides and top.

    After that I sit down and start lapping the base. I believe I started with 600grit paper and worked to 1600 or 2000 grit. It does take time.

    I brazed with the rods pictured below, no flux


    The evap brazed together very easy with only one seam.

    It's a really good brazing road.
    I'd used Harris dynaflow some days ago, but with flux, I thought that it needs to be used with it.

    I use my "mini torch" with Oxy/acet. It does everything I need plus saves my Oxy/acet on most jobs.

    The only time I use flux is when I'm brazing copper to stainless and then I use the stay-silv (black) high temp flux.
    I'm sure some of you remember "Red Wolf". He steered me away from using flux unless absolutely needed.

    I'll pickup one as it seems to work a bit better then my brush wheel I use to clean joints. Wear gloves tho Ron if you don't as that looks like a mean little setup if the evap goes flying!

    Those wheels are in the tool section by the grinding wheel and sandpaper for disc sanders. They will clean paint off of metal very well, and they will take off excess brazing alloy with some patients.

    Haha so thats how ya do it. My wheel will only remove oxidation. Thanks for the tip Ron, I"ll jump out right now and grab one of those suckers.

    This is a 6 inch long by 1 inch diameter accumulator with tube running from end to end. You'd have to have been there to know what that means.

    Did you just use your torch to heat up the accumulator and then let the solder flow over the accumulator? I plan on doing it that way with my next singlestage as using a soldering iron would be impossible
