    I disagree.
Kentsfield/Clovertown is a CPU. Quad father(4x4) is a whole system.
FX-7x is a dualcore CPU, 2xF7x are two dualcore CPUs.
    2 CPUs != 1 CPUs

Nobody cares if a processor is really 2 dice under the lid or 1 monolithic die, all I care is how fast it'll crunch numbers for me. AMD's path is expensive, not yield-friendly, and did I mention late to the game? I sure hope K10 kicks the crap out of Kentsfield/Cloverton but with doubts of K10 hitting the desktop this year and the Q6600 dropping under $300 in Q3 it isn't looking good. Now I'm really looking forward to these Penryn samples, 4GHz on air anybody?

The Veyron features a W16 engine—16 cylinders in 4 banks of 4 cylinders, or the equivalent of two narrow-angle V8 engines mated in a "W" configuration. Each cylinder has 4 valves, for a total of 64, but the narrow V8 configuration allows two camshafts to drive two banks of cylinders so only 4 camshafts are needed. The engine is fed by four turbochargers, and it displaces 8.0 L (7,993 cc/488 in³) with a square 86 by 86 mm bore and stroke.

Bugatti Veyron, seems to have 2 engines, guess its a pile of crap then.

I mean who cares that it has over 1000bhp and can do over 250mph, untill it can do it with a single v16 engine it can keep on walkin.

Again you are wrong, talking without a basic understanding of what you are talking.
    FSB1067: 266MHz * 4 * 64bit = 8,5GB/s total bandwidth for both directions, 8.5GB/s per direction
    HTT2-1000: 2 x 1000MHz * 2 * 16bit = 8GB/s total for both directions, 4GB/s per direction
    8.5GB/s > 8GB/s
    8.5GB/s > 4GB/s

The W16 is a different concept than this, the analog doesnt really apply. Other than that i do your point, it doesnt matter what is driving it as long as it performs and i agree with this sentiment.

I love this thread's entertainment value too

AMD has a lot to bring back to the game, and a lot to prove. Let's hope they aren't just a bunch o talk. I don't think anyone has any illusions that the company itself could be on the auction block if their chips don't come soon and make the world impressed.

I've no wish to see them go, but they'd better have some engineering genius to show us, and very, very soon.

Does this conversation of Intel v. AMD belong in the News section?

    Cut it out.

Actually, it took Intel two years to give up fighting with Microsoft over AMD64 instructions. It took them another two years before they could start their plan to assassinate AMD. They've done everything they can to turn themselves into a company that can do it; 24 month cycles, removing excess staff, keeping the press sweet by cutting the BS and giving out more information.

Its been what? 8 months since Intel got serious?

I personally think talking too much crap about Penryn vs K10 , from either side of the fence is a bit dangerous at the moment.

Until the world knows what K10 brings, you're taking a gamble and could end up eating some big words.

What a Core 2 would cost. And they will replace 65nm SKUs with 45nm slowly. Same price. So nothing special for the price. Ofcourse it might just be the topend in the beginning with 45nm.

i dunno but im giddy about it, i was waiting on the prices of the 65nm conroes to drop down to about where they are now before i swapped out this pentium d 915 for somthing beefier, but now i dont know if i want to wait till the 45nm chips are released :x

thats the best thing about pentium d 900 vs 800 ... for 900 u get higher clock speed .. ie 930 4+GHz and with LARGER cache. 2MB more i remember, and runs cooler just because of manufacturing jump from 90nm to 65nm ... that was a a lot of fun

Intel Tukwila (formally known as Tanglewood, possibly cancelled) CPU is expected to be introduced in 2007 Q4. Built on a 65nm process. Tukwila is expected to contain 32Mb L3 cache.

and that Intel do not give such infos to thg
45nm Penryn CPUs are far away from Sampleing
he says that in Q3 07 the sampling can beging but not in June or July.
