Changed the grills on my TJ07

I've been kicking around changing out my stock grills on my TJ. They're pretty restrictive and raise my temps 3c-5c when I put the sides on.

Most of you have seen my rig already but this is what I started with...

    Stock grill

Picked me up some specially made New and Improved Mesh from Home Depot

Made some templates of the opening on the side of my case and clamped the mesh between them

Slowly work my way around bending the sides down

Side by side comparison of the finished product

    Mounted

    Another comparison

    And on the case

So, temps now stay the same whether the side is on or not. Now I'm undecided whether I should leave it silver or paint it black? I kinda like the contrast of the silver but I'm sure it would look great black too. What do you guys think?

i think it looks great silver cus it adds a little contrast to the black and that makes it more noticeable in a good way, great work

I see fingerprints on that case!

Anyone handy with photochop and could turn the mesh black for him so he can see how it would look without actually having to do it?

Bah! I knew somebody would say something. Fingerprints plus dust on my lense makes for questionable pics.

That looks fantastic... Let me know if you want to make some for my TJ07

But seriously, what kind of temp difference are you seeing right now?

Nice job. This is one of those that either black or silver is a winner.

I think it would look better with black mesh, but I have black everything. I RMA'd my card because I wanted black PCB instead of calculator green. once you go black you never go back

That mesh works great. I buy the same stuff from home Depot. I think it runs around 1.29 for the sheet (really is gutter guard)
    Nothing anymore

Thanks! It really isn't that hard to do. Making good templates is the key.

Temps are freakin horrible. Dang overly warm Spring time temps have me idleing at 50c. It's 29c in this room right now. I'm sooo close to kicking on the AC. I miss winter.

Anyways, temps rise 1c now when I put the side on, instead of 3c-5c. I added some filter material to help with the insane amount of dust I was gathering too. With just the new mesh, no filter, temps were staying the same, side on or off.

Nice mod, makes the case look more 'solid'. 1 vote for black paint.

Nice Job, I would paint it black, but that is just me.

Too cool. Thanks a lot for that. I'm leaning towards the black I think. I can always make another set and paint those instead. They're easy and cheap enough to make.

I'll take the silver ones if you don't want them. I have a silver TJ07.

There are slots those tabs slide into and then you bend them over to keep them in place.
