I was told, that ASUS is aware of the problem with HDD's off/on before loading OS and are trying to fix it. But definetely, 0503 and 0601 do not have a problem with restarting, when overclocked, at least for me. That's one step in a right direction, right?

    Anyway, I decided to add both BETA's to my host - feel free to play with them

    0503 BETA --- 0601 BETA

    Hi! I just want to say thank you and to let you know that there are people watching this thread for upcoming good news
    My girlfriend asked me to build her a new pc this summer and I chose this mobo with this annoying problem which I would like to solve but I can't without losing performance.

    I am looking forward for a new bios version posted here
    thank you

    This is MAX bootable, limited to MAX available from BIOS. Also, only possible at multi x5 so far... At multi x6 and x7 it tops at ~380Mhz and I did not manage to figure out how to take it higher yet

    hi bachus.
    do you think max htt is limited by the mobo or by the cpu?

    i tested a lot of amd 939 chips and max htt wasn't the same for each of them.
    I also discovered that the max htt is easier to have with the directly lower multiplier than default multi and max htt decrease with the lower multipliers (4 5 6 or 7)... but frequency can be too high so it needs cold.

    Misteroadster discovered few month ago that max htt is related to coldbug (max htt achieved with a certain temperature): max htt decrease of 1.5Mhz for 1°C less so i think your 400HTT is not so high for an amd k8.

    So, do you have the time to test if the max htt with cold is same as max htt aircooled?
    thx

    Well, as a matter of fact, 0609 is dated 12/04/2006, so it seems quite fresh, yay!

    ... and this little problem that we've seen on 0503 BETA and 0601 BETA:

Right before Windows logo shows up and OS starts to load, there is a momentary power off/on cycle on HDD, which YES, makes a "click" sound. OS loads and all is fine and dandy, though...
    seems to be fixed!!! It looks like someone at ASUS does listen

    is the vcore reading in ASUS PC Probe accurate? I set 1.4V in the BIOS, but PC Probe says 1.46V and CPU-Z (latest version) says 1.312V.

    I just got this board and have been mystified by the voltage readings. Most 3rd party programs have a similar reading, while pcprobe is about .2v above those readings. I used a DMM to measure the voltages at the points indicated in the first post by bachus_anonym. In my measurements with a few different voltages, pcprobe read about .15v too high while the 3rd party read about .05v too low.

    Another odd thing I have found is that the BIOS seems to automatically overvolt the vcore when the fsb > 250 when vcore is set to auto. It appears to add .1v to the default vcore and disable the ability to go to a lower idle voltage via CNQ.

    0702 seems to work fine for me. Can't comment on how it compares to the other versions though because I flashed to 0702 right when I started.

    I try the Ver 0801 but it seem to be same with 0702. I have a question with my computer
    I have an 3600+ X2 Socket AM2 Windsor
    First I do this
    http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc?id=157057
    VCore=1.2750V
    HT=240 MHz
    Multi=10X

    Vdimm=df
    I try Super PI and pass 32M but when try Orthos option Blem test not pass 15m but test CPU only (Small FFTs) pass >5h.
    After that I think Ram false or Vdimm too low I try this
    http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc?id=160373
    VCore=1.2250V
    HT=230 MHz
    Multi=10X
    Vdimm=df
    But I got the same result. Do you know why? I should increase vcore or vdimm to stable.

    GO GO GADGET REVIVE!

    ok soooooo, i havent used an asus mobo since the a7n8x days fellas.... ive come to terms with the funky voltage and temp reportings... sort of; but i'm looking at another crazy scaling wall yet again!

    i'm rocking a brisbane am2 X2, on the m2n 570 sli, and scale really easily up to 2.9 ghz but the moment i try to stabilize 3.0, core #0 always fails on me, from 1.45(BIOS) all the way up to bios max!

    so first guess is, gotta loosen up the choke hold on the IMC; lets go look at secondary DRAM timings right.... only, NO WINDOWS PROGRAM CAN SHOW ME WHAT THE TIMINGS ARE!

    so, how in the heck did you get systool to show you timings? is tehre no new a64 tweaker? a4info als ocant report right. oh noes. or better yet, what shall i loosed up? i put MAL at 9ns for now.... no clue what the rest of the stuff is being set at with AUTO being used for all secondary and tertiary things in the DRAM section.

    holla back!

    has anyone else besides bachus_anonym been able to get beyond a 300 HTT on this mb? I seem to be hitting a wall here. I'm pretty sure it's not the CPU, as I'm able to get this opty 1210 running 300x9 as low as 1.15v. And I've memtested the ram to 933 (runs at 800 at a 300 HTT with current divider). Any help would be appreciated!

    I've been using the 0903 BIOS for over a week now. Seems pretty good.

    Gonna try lowering the cpu multi and see how far towards max HTT I can get. At 320 HTT with 667 divider, my RAM craps out going over 1000MHz, so I had to go with 533 divider. I would like to get the RAM close to 1000MHz 5-5-5-15, which it runs well, but too much more and it gives up and extra voltage won't help these Promos.

    Well, our RAM differs greatly. Most everything is set to auto except cas, trcd, trp and tras. Timings are at 2T and I tried max async of 8ns and 9ns.

    You will need to play with yours a bit as the D9's on your sticks will act much differently than the Promos IC's on my Corsair.

    I'm still researching which settings I can mess with to achieve better memory clocks without killing performance too much.

    I got my Opty from a forum member at DIY-Street.

    Whichever you can get the cheapest. They're both about the same design and performance wise.

    Looks like my board is the bottleneck. Dropping the multi down didn't help me in my quest for higher HTT, it simply craps out at around 320 HTT. I was able to keep my RAM stable, however, running the 667 divider this time, giving my DDR800 a nice ride to DDR1050.

    Overall, this is a really good board from Asus, just seems the 570 chipset it truly the limiting factor.
