Thanks Praz! at this point i might just RMA this board. My voltages are all over the place. I just watched my 3.3 drop to 1.17. WTF!!

Awesome board though, 515 FSB wtih 1.35v NB right out the box. I might just order another from Newegg tomorrow since they're suppose to be instock. I can hot flash then for sure. I'm sure someone here will be willing to take the board off my hands after I successfully restore my bios chip
No need to get another 965-S. You can hot flash the chip in the RD600 board.

    GOOD!
I'll be looking at your install - I can do mine next weekend.

Is there a bios flash utility that won't require the part numbers to match in order to proceed with flash? The award flash utility keeps telling me the motherboard doesn't match the bios I'm trying to flash and stops.

Try flashing with no parameters except the /F switch. Still may not work though since the two boards use different chips. One is a 49LF080A and the other is a 49LF008A.

can't seem to get it to work using f/ switch or not using f/switch. The utility is reading the current bios & not allowing the flash because the boards don't match I guess. I thought there was a way to force a flash regardless of boards matching perhaps I need an older AWDFLASH utility to do so.

This link clearly shows the bios part number. I went to the bios savior site to check compatability with my pmc2 which worked in my nforce 2 and nforce4 boards which were 4Mb bios chips. This board has an 8Mb bios chip, and as far as I can tell uses a different type of bios savior. Check if the rd600 has an 8Mb flash rom ( u can cross reference the bios chip number at the bios savior site).

The ICFX3200 is an 8M chip and uses a different bios savior.

ppl..i have tried out maybe 10 conroes...none have been stable above 500fsb even with 6x multi and on boards proven capable of more with perfect ram...these conroes often have their own internal fsb walls...but i am working as hard as i can to get DFi to try and modify their bios to improve this by having the manual 333strap selection...

the one cpu i modded to 333fsb with bsel mods can now do over 500fsb easily...

these board can do 540 on 266 strap...if your ram can to..then the only thing that can wall is the cpu....ram settings are the only other possibility

THANK YOU. I understand the board doesn't have to be the same, nor the chipset. But do I have to use a board with an AWARD bios installed in order to be successful? I have an Asus P5W DH that has the exact same bios chip that I hotflashed previously, when the boards were not shipping with a conroe supported bios.

How does this board compare to the BX2 or is it too early to tell? I'm building a new system and was set on that board decided to come out. I've been hearing some stories about the boards being DOA now. As for DFI, it's way cheaper but since I'm a complete newb to overclocking let alone building a computer, the bios options are too much to handle so I really have no idea anymore. I'll be using a E6420 and G. Skill HZ if that helps any. If this is derailing this topic in any way then my bad on that.
