Well here we go again

Received some gear for testing and thought i'd share some of the overclocking bonanza with you guys here

TEST GEAR ON THE BENCH TABLE:

BTW When i say Max Test i mean fastest MHz with 2.5vdimm (ONLY ON CORSAIR) i could achieve BUT i was testing so many things for such a long time that i would sometimes have another 5-10MHz in sticks in some situations so they could all probably go a little harder still heh

This kit is going back to corsair so i didn't spend much time on them...
installed windows and tested stock timings 555MHz 4-4-4- which ran fine...
amazing for stock timings





CORSAIR PC10000 5-5-5-x DDR1250 KIT

due to time restraints with soooo much gear i had for testing
i've gone for gold here with 2.5vdimm set in bios on XFX 680i LT mobo
This is also better of the two kits by about ~10MHz

Bump in clocks >>> i just jumped straight to

DDR1275 5-5-5-x 8M SuperPI

DDR1302 5-5-5-x 1M SuperPI

sooo should be able to get around DDR1290 out of them benchable 32M with this mobo
Motherboard starts to feel a little shaky at these RAM speeds...probably a touch weaker than my eVGA 680i
I think this RAM's got more in it with the right mobo

quick test >> i used a P5B Deluxe and customer W.C. kits a couple of days before the big test to pretest the CPU



3.6GHz ~20m small FFTs Orthos 1.45v Loaded


quick 10m burn-in with 1.62v 3.7GHz....
temps aren't too bad either considering the load and ~20C ambient >> i used Silent Tricod fans on the rad too EEK
since it's not my CPU i didn't push it too much at 1.6v ......
most of testing needs 1.45v as i've been benching SPI around 3.6Ghz mark




500MHz FSB Orthos is no issue for this CPU either >> nice one







did some more tests with Corsair Nautilus 500 watercooling kit

this time with a new CPU i got L629F122 E6600

with Asus P5B Deluxe motherboard though

Watching memtest with this 4GB kit was THE MOST PAINFUL experience i've ever had

I am using 32-bit Windows XP Pro SP2.
I didn't need to fiddle around with any bios or windows settings for it to show full 4GB in windows.
I realise that 32-bit is not an idea OS for 4GB kits but that's what i'm used to using

Corsair Nautilus 500
External Watercooling Kit

Corsair says this product takes 8-9 minutes to install compared to half hour to few hours on competitors products.

I have to confirm this is the case.......man if you are a total n00b at W.C. it couldn't be easier.

Click the mounting PEGs on the motherboard.

Put some AS5 or Ceramique

Get the unit out, block with Tubing already attached to it and coolant
put the Snap on connector on the end of the tubing for the waterblock and click into the back of Nautilus 500

open the bottle of coolant and poor it in........

YOU DON'T EVEN NEED TO LEAK TEST WOW >>> actually the only place i would really check would be the two points >>> one on waterblock which is not going to leak no way....but always check just in case >>>> second place is the quick release joints

I love quick release joints on the back........just click and release >>> sealed really well......i know this will probably cause some flow restriction but it's a great feature. You can even spin the tubing to position it properly if it starts tangling it won't leak (well it didn't on mine)

Jump start the PSU and add Distilled water into the res and wait for the liquid to mix and flow through tubing
(i did run into a hiccup here and closed the res lid and waved the unit in the air and positioned the block and tubing to force water to flow...took a minute or so LOL >>n00b<<)

Now during the filling up process the pump will work harder than normal because it's trying to get the water flowing through tubing so it is pretty loud.
However once the water is flowing through and bubbles settle down it considerably quietens down. It is still audible but when the rest of fans get into the mix it is quieter than other things.........i have a little video i have to upload with sound >>> i would get closer to Nautilus 500 and away from it to give you a relative idea on noise levels and then i would do the same with Corsair RAM Cooler and Chipset cooler..............chipset cooler wins the loudness test here hahahahha

i did actually wait for about 10-15 minutes for all the micro bubbles to go away before i started cranking it up








I LOVE THIS QUICK CONNECT FEATURE

Power cable is sleaved with some funky rubbery style gear.... I LIKE!

Pretty compact this one comapred to Hydrocool 200 which i also had.......better preforming as well

Ah the smell of fresh PCB of all kinds

Dinos very nice.. it's times like these you wish consumer retail motherboards had 6-8 dimm slots

For screen captures you might want to in future save them as PNG format and use SLI_dog's tweak in irfanview at http://i4memory.com/announcement.php?f=50&a=2 to reduce file size by as much as 75-80% while retaining the same image quality

Yeah for 4GB memtesting it takes ages to get through even one full standard loop of test #1 to #8!

Weird location indeed for those system connectors on the XFX 680i board ?

hey question when you did the water filling to the res did you have the Nautilus connected to the PSU and boot your whole system or did you jump the PSU for the fill?

how long did it take for the coolant to start circulating through the tubing for you

i think that the 4-3-3-8 590MHz and 600MHz 4-4-4-x is the most significant result here performance wise

I have ALSO been able to run the PC10000 kit on my Asus P5B Deluxe at 600MHz as well with 2.4v which is a major achievement as P965 normally doesn't clock the RAM as high or tight..............well 4-3-3-x on P965 are not possible at such clocks plus they perform worse than 4-4-4-x due to latencies on that chipset.....at least in Asus's case

the MAX i could squeeze out with this CPU was 489MHz FSB with around 469MHx bootable. Not very impressive but OK for that chipset.

that 500MHz FSB was with Asus P5B Deluxe. Asus makes great motherboards

if you look at my sig i have done some benching on eVGA 680i board which did 1M SuperPI at 500MHz but was very shaky at those settings......

if you are after high FSB i don't think 680i boards are the way to go
