I bought a BIOSTAR T-Force 550 budget board a month after it came out, and coupled it with a 3500+, and reached 2.8Ghz on air (400Mhz OC), with 1GB of DDR2-667 oc'd a little, all on air.

I then upgraded this past xmas to a 3800+ X2 and another gig of the same RAM, and I currently have it running stable at 2600Mhz (600Mhz OC) again, on air.

Simply amazing that with this little board you can take it up so much. That's my two cents, great OC board for the money!

The high end DFI 590 board is picky (like all DFI boards) but a good OCer. The Asus Crosshair is somewhat less picky, but a pretty good OCer, I can get mine to 355 HTT w/2x multiplier and 8x CPU multiplier. If you don't want to shell out for the big boys, the M2N32-SLI is cheaper and nearly the same.

A crosshair with DFI's power supply would be great ;p

For higher end X2's that don't call for very high HTT it (the dfi) would be the best all round.

I finally managed to get 370HTT out of it (for a short time) on a sempron. They are certainly picky though.

Modern Ram, makes an old overclocker miss BH-5 and the fun it was

Dfi 590 need fan blowing on power area. Will shut down if to hot. M2n32-sli south bridge hotter than hell and to many heat pipes. I need a good board that does not have these problems or other crazy problems

DFI NFUltra II M2 IMHO is the easiest OC board for AM2 at least for single core, someone said that it's not a descent OC-er board for X2 and other dualcores
been wasting some times to play with the LP590 and TF590SLI both are so buggy
my next candidates are : TF550 and ASUS Crosshair

If you need SLi, Asus M2N-SLi seems like a pretty decent board for not too much $. I've been able to reach 350HTT on it.

I have an M2N-SLI Deluxe also and have been reasonably happy with it. One quirk is that the voltage reporting is a little confusing. Testing with a multimeter, the reading reported by Asus Probe seems to be the closest.

Though someone in another thread has reported hitting a 400HTT with this board, I haven't been able to get much above a 300HTT. Are there any tricks particular to this board to get the higher HTTs? I think my Opteron 1210 F3 is running well below its potential.

Gonna second the foxconn, have reached 800+ MHz OC with this, currently finding the 24/7 sweet spot...

it would seem there is no true top board for it. Ofcourse that would be too easy...

    the best ones have been,

biostar tforce 550 or the 570 ultra
dfi ultra II m2 but alot of them do not ship with a working brisbane bios
asus crosshair or asus m2n deluxe

the dfi 590 lan party is good too,

but why spend £100+ on a am2 board? May as well go core 2 duo for that money. It's about bang for buck with am2, and for that I myself would purchase either biostar or dfi ultra II m2 or even the asus m2n deluxe.

Glad to hear you having decent luck with that board and the Opteron. The vcore is a pain though. Probably one of the more stable vcores from an Asus board, but setting to 1.475 in BIOS produces a 1.54vcore. I double checked with my MM. At first I thought Asus probe was way off, but it's the only accurate app inside Windows it would seem.
I was a bit worried going to the Asus, having run the DFI Infinity UltraII-M2 for quite a while without the least bit of worry. A truly solid board. Luckily I've had zero problems with the Asus as well.

Wanted extra SATA without using an add on (okay, the chipset cooler on the DFI was crap, still a good board)....wanted Asus and maybe SLI down the road without doing a mod......got it at a good price......trivial things really.

I agree with you here why pay ridiculous money for an AM2 motherboard and chip when you could get a much faster C2D system for the same price.

Even if you wanted to support AMD and cannot bring yourself to buy a C2D, you would be better served by spending the extra money on getting an F3 Windsor chip and staying with one of the many excellent sub $100 boards.
