Aw.... Was going to get the OCZ. Looks damn nice compared to the Corsair unit. If it's not much of a trouble, can you take a pic of the corsair unit on ur mobo esp. on the clearance space between ur gfx and dominator fan?
I'm kinda worried coz i have less than 5mm clearance space between my ram slots and my 7900gt. What will happen if part of the fan touches the gfx? Will it burn it (short circuit? )
p.s. Found this small review on newegg:
Pros: Looks very nice, and build appears quite solid. Nice braided electrical connection
Cons: In a bad axe 2 ( 975xbx2 ) you cannot fit both a 7900 gt or larger video card in pcie A (1) in conjunction with a CORSAIR CMXAF1 Fan. The video board is too long for it. And, that pcie slot is the only one on the bad axe 2 that has true 16 pcie. Also, very tricky to get the fan clipped onto the memory clips. Be really really careful because a bit of force is needed, and if you slip, you will most definitely be sorry.
Other Thoughts: I unfortunately never got a chance to experience the true performance of this fan because I couldnt use it in my system. It was built solidly, and I have no doubt it would work well, but if da glove don't fit...u must acquit....

Hey everyone...I haven't posted in a while because my rig has been working quite nicely, and work work has been a bit overwhelming.
But.....
<caveat>I know this is off-topic, but you are the best on this forum, so I thought I would put this out here.</caveat>
I just spent the better part of yesterday trying to copy a 7GB file from my external SATA enclosure to my harddrive with no success. I did copy it eventually when I used the USB interface, but I was unable using the eSATA interface.
I tried several things. I upped my BIOS to 2674. I am using the bracket suppleid by the enclsoure to go from eSATA to SATA using the black Intel SATA ports. I tried using Marvel, but I didn't even see the enclosure when I tried that.
I can copy small files, say < 500MB easily. But when thefile size reaches a certain threshold, bam! Nothing.
Here's what I see... Any ideas??
Current Gaming Rig:
- Intel Core i7 860 @ 3.6GHz (22x165, 33C idle, 69C load)
- Gigabyte GA-P55-UD3R
- G.Skill 8GB RipJaws DDR3-1333
- Diamond ATI 5870
- CORSAIR CMPSU-750TX 750W
- Plextor Black 24x DVD Black w/ LightScribe
- LG CH10LS20 Blu-Ray Reader
- Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
My RAM tests were failing with memtest and docmemory, at the high end of the chips. I figured I overclocked too much and so I replaced the motherboard. The tests now do the exact same thing! These tests did not initially fail so it's something I did during OC'ing.
What could be the problem? My two theories are 1.) The other board ate all my chips, or 2.) the memory controller on the CPU is bad.
I'm going to test one of the failed memory chips at work tomorrow and if they pass, then I guess it's the CPU, no?

That's strange! Did you try copying it to another internal sata hd?
Not sure why windows doesn't see the device when connected to Marvell. Do you have the secondary ide controller enabled in bios and the marvell drivers installed in windows? I thought vista supported this natively but...
I'd try to verify for you as I have an esata box on the marvell (red port) but I don't think I have any 7GB files laying around handy![]()

PXE UNDI: Initializing Intel(R) Boot Agent GE v1.2.28
PXE Base Code: Intel(R) Boot Agent GE v1.2.42
Intel® Active Management Technology info:
Intel® AMT BX Firmware: v1.2.3
New Fixes/Features:
Updated processor support.
I did enable the Marvell controller in the BIOS when I tested it plugged into the red port, but since it was through the bracket, and thus an eSATA to SATA connection (versus a eSATA to eSATA connection), maybe that was the problem. I don't know. Maybe I did something wrong in that test.
One thing is that when connected to a black port, I can turn the external SATA drive on and off while Vista is running. It pauses for a second, but it works. So that seems good.
As for trying it out, you don't need a 7GB file. It happens with 500MB files too if you have one of those![]()

Actually, I had made that change and still had the problem. So I contacted Intel Support. Their reply was to go into the Bios Menu into Advance/Peripheral Configuartion/Secondary SATA Controller and disable it. So after doing that, the problem went away.
I then asked what I had just done and the response from Intel was as follows:
"Regarding your question the secondary SATA controllers are the Marvell* SATA RAID controller. You can distinguish the Marvell* SATA ports on your desktop board since they have a blue color.
If you want to setup a RAID on the Marvell* controllers you need to enable them on the BIOS.
As a manufacturing option, the board provides a Marvell 88SE6145 Serial ATA (SATA) controller and four connectors (that support one device per connector) for SATA devices. These connectors are in addition to the four SATA connectors of the ICH7-R/ICH7-DH SATA interface.
The Marvell 88SE6145 controller uses the PCI bus for data transfer with a theoretical maximum transfer rate of 3 Gbits/sec per port. The discrete SATA interface supports the following RAID levels:
RAID 0
RAID 1
If you need more information regarding the Marvell* controllers please visit the following website:....."
