As for hitting 3.6, it might be possible, it might not. You are already at 1.3875 volts and only 3.1 ghz.

The thing about these B chips I've found out recently is that as you increase voltage, temps start to shoot up at a pretty fast rate. this is due to the fact that the B chips appear to generate more heat at a given voltage than the A chips.

Just be sure to watch your temps carefully.

Would it be recommended to leave vmch and vfsb as auto and increase the fsb and vcore manually?

I dont recommend leaving anything for the bios to control. generally not a good idea. After all it is the reason we buy enthusiast boards so that we can control every little thing on the board. Manually set vmch and vfsb.

    Just to confirm,
The molex-connector on the motherboard is only supposed to be used in case you use the 4pin -> 8pin converter right? I hope you understand what I mean

Manual says it's for graphics cards over a certain wattage. I forget the wattage number off the top of my head. I always plug everything in either way.

Its for videocards that have no PCIE power connector, and exceed the PCIE wattage output.

I'm getting a yellow question mark in my Device Manager for a PCI Device which has not yet been installed and I can't figure out what this is for.

When I switch to View/Devices by Connection, it appears under the Intel 82801 GR/GH/GHM (ICH7 Family) PCI Express Root Port - 27E0.

Can anyone tell what this is and whether I should be concerned about it?

My Intel Express Installer Disk shows that the Marvel Raid Utility is not installed. Could this be it? I don't think I need that since I am running Intel Matrix Raid.

I have already installed the Chipset Software Installation program and update.

Its probably the onboard audio, or LAN. Just disable them if you dont use it.

I GAINED(?!?) stability when I dropped vmch and vfsb to their minimum possible values in BIOS. Go figure.

This may seem stupid but if you enable Marvell controller to use eSATA port do you have to install the RAID drivers?

Does the Marvell controller add any instability to OCing, if enabled

I would not mind just having 4 extra sata ports that are "IDE" ...I will not use RAID and have no floppy

I just installed the board in my case and hooked everything up...and it booted, I always get a small sense of relief

    BIOS very different from RD600

I ordered from Mwave got a rev. 505 with BIOS 2333..I need to get into the maintenence mode and diasble C1E....I will install winxp pro at defaults as always

    yeah, that works too.

i would have never known about the c1e bug had it not been for cpu-z 1.39.

all other versions reported it as the overclocked speed.

anyway, enjoy the board. it's been good to me so far.

so what is the final word on the c1e bug... does it lower voltage, or not? (when you do NOT have default voltage).

if not, then is it really helping anything by just lowering the multi during low stress times??

I think it has to do with QRTD (Quick Resume Technology Driver) which is only supported by Windows Media Center (not XP and Vista I'm not sure). Go to Bios, Power and Disable it. You will not get the error any more. You don't have to disable S4 or S3 just the Quick Resume option; that's what fixed it for me. Good luck.

Proof once again that "Your Mileage May Vary". This is why it's always a good idea to do your own experimentation.

    BIOS very different from RD600

I ordered from Mwave got a rev. 505 with BIOS 2333..I need to get into the maintenence mode and diasble C1E....I will install winxp pro at defaults as always
You need the drivers for the Marvell to use them at all. There's a drivers-only download on Intel's site. Just extract it to a directory and use device manager to install it.

if not, then is it really helping anything by just lowering the multi during low stress times??
My observation on 4 boards is that if the vcore is set to something other than default, it's locked there and only the multi changes. Since heat is a function of both speed and voltage lowering the multi alone does help. How much, I can't say.
