    thanks for the reply kemo.

4-4-4-x was not stable with 2.2v in memtest

i got 5-4-4-12 stable with 2.2v in memtest at 1040, i could probably get that 12 lower but for now i am good, ill play with it some more tomorrow maybe.
cooling the memory will decrease the rate of ram degrading over time but still they might degrade with 2.2V and fan on them or survive with 2.4V with no cooling ,,,, nothing guaranteed when it comes to OC but you got better chances with a cooling fan

is that a good or bad thing? or does it make absolutely no difference. which model crucial ballistix is it that is flashed to SPD??

Crucial's PCB is a bit better than G.Skill's. Then again, Micron owns Crucial so it's easier for them to adjust the PCB to best suit their own ICs.

which model crucial ballistix is it that is flashed to SPD??
Does it matter? It's PC6400 now, so you'll get 400MHz memory capable of more.

i was thinking of something else when i asked which model ballistix was flashed to spd, so it was just another pc6400 ballistix that was flashed to spd i would assume.

thanks for the answer about the crucial pcb.

Haldal 2nd to last post at the thread below says pc5300 which is why i asked which model. That would mean it is native 667 wouldn't it? If it is just native 667 and not native 800, wouldn't that mean it will be less likely to overclock as well as a higher binned set or am i way off, because i am still learning how these things work?

I took that as a conformation as in happy easter look at this great deal. Anyway I will just rma them if there not microns. I used my 6400 in a friends rig so ive got nothing to test these sticks with. now im waiting for the intel price drop, then ill pick up a 6600.

    Kemo/TeRm,
When I read through the forum the other day I truly didn't take Kemo's post as confirmation that the modules were indeed GMH, infact I took it as the complete opposite (that is that you need to get confirmation first before buying)! With that said it could probably be easy to see it both ways, especially if I were excited about finding 1GB modules of GMH for only $69 bucks, lol! Like you said though TeRm, since you bought them through newegg it will be very easy to return if their not to your liking. I would test them out though, even if their not Microns (you never know)?

By the way TeRm, when should your modules get delivered?

I got the G.Skill 2GB HK Promos chips instead since I heard they overclock just as good as average D9's. They are now sold out on Newegg. When I ordered, there was still 5 left but gone by today.

    I plan on running it @ 1000mhz 4-4-4-10 2.1v 24/7. You think it's possible?

That would be very impressive if they did, this is the reason I told TeRm to test his modules first (if their not D9's) because some of these kits clock very well! There are a few great reviews here at XS finaldeathh on the HK's, if I find one I'll give you the linky!

I'll be interested to hear your results because I just received (30mins ago) the same stuff. Temporary replacement while I await RMA on my HZ (1 stick died recently )

[edit; stupid comment below... yeah it runs at spec ]
FYI, nothing special but currently @ 800 4.4.3.5 2.1v (folding 100&#37 other specs per 'Main' in sig.

[edit: currently running at previous HZ spec except 4-4-3-5... 1:1@876 (8x438 3.5GHz) @2.15v. Will be leaving it here for now... work to do ]

I've been doing some reading and I think these Promos chips are best left at 2.1v. That's where the sweet spot is.

I think these can do 4-4-4-10 2.1v 1000Mhz with a little bit of tweaking.

Yea. I think Enjoy reviewed a kit and almost got them to 1200mhz. That's why I got them in the first place. I also saw a lot of Micron D9 users having their sticks die on them so I stayed away from the G.Skill HZ.

I don't need to do any WR's, I just need it max my E6300 out.

Initially I tried at spec @2.1v. Then I reinstated my prev. OC settings except with 4-4-3-5. The DQ6 reset the OC initially so I bumped the voltage to 2.15v. Past experience with this board says I should have just rebooted and it probably would have booted up fine. I haven't played any further.

There's no point going much higher than 8x438 for me because of CPU temp. I'm inclined to keep Core Temps below 60c and this machine folds 24/7 with or without me working.

Current specs essentially as per 'Main' in sig. except HK's instead of HZ's and latency mentioned above.

Yeah, I'm happy with them so far . Certainly a good choice for my current setup on air and 100% CPU 24/7

When I get a chance I'll play around and see how far I can I go before the CPU gets too close frying or bugging out i.e., short spells and no serious stability testing.

1000mhz 4-4-4-10 2.1v needs high bin GMH ,,, i don't think that this is possible with the HK but shoot for it anyway

Term, I apologize for the misunderstanding. When I posted that I was mostly asking to others to help get confirmation. Usually newegg doesn't make you pay the restocking fee, especially if they are unopened. You can exchange them for something else also. They are really good when it comes to returns. Since you are without a rig for a few weeks, you may wanna try your luck with the Crucial PC8000 w/ the $50 MIR.

Sorry to hear that TeRm, it was worth a shot! I 100% agree with Hutch, if you can do it get the Crucial Ballistix PC2-8000 modules do it! They are still the best modules I've ever used, even above my much more expensive Cellshocks (GKX)! I guess it's not worth testing because you don't want to open the package right, plus there is a very good chance their not going to clock as good as you'd like! Just to let you know, I have always had a very easy time with returns at newegg, there is a reason so many people buy their hardware there! Good luck and keep us posted please?

I love how newegg has the picture for the 1GB PC6400 Firestix as the FSX800D2B-512m which is the D9GKX model (Cas 4 PC6400 firestix) yet they are shipping the FSX800D2C-512m... Either way though they are cheap! ($84.99)
