Unfortunately it's a 1U server, so you'd be very limited as far as cooling options. Also, it's really a PITA to work in cramped spaces. I like the set-up below better. New Caneland MP server (beta version). 16-cores, high speed interconnects (no more FSB bottleneck), big and lots of room inside.

Interesting.. I'd still take lots and lots of Kenties instead of those Clovertons. Can't imagine the cost those procs would cost being 4-way..

Two separate nodes in that 1U rack....no need for MP Clovers, just DP Clovers (is there even a difference?)

Oh doh, forgot about that, dual node. I'd say there is a difference as the old Nocona Xeon's had 1P, 2P, and MP flavors. Same goes with opterons.

I will be building a 8 core rig but it will be a two-month project.

This is my 8-U rack in my room. I am in progress of terminating the 12-U rack in basement due to power bills.

The quadFX is residing in the bottom 4-U chassis. That chassis will be replaced with two 2-U cases : which will be used to house quadfx and clover.

The top one is Yonah 2500 even through it has an AMD sticker. It used to contain Brisbane.

Maybe 45K a day from that rig. I think you'd be pressed to go beyond 2.667 in it if that high. A lot of heat to deal with.

Just lucky here and there and some good people that decided to help me out.
I won't name them but I hope they know I appreciate what they've done.
Two in particular and you two know who I mean. Thanks for all you've done.

I think a clover would do a 8 way system if there was a board for it.

Yea, old xeons were DP(dual processor) and MP(Multi Processor, for 4 or 8 way servers)

Glad to hear it..LV clovers I assume? That is looking to be the smart way to go.

I was almost tempered to make a statement that real men use sever hardware Yes, yes, I know that it is a stupid and childish statement.

No, just a perspective based on how you use the machine.
If I was also into gaming I'd be doing a conroe or Kents as that is the best for that usage.
I just got interested in dual socket back when all cpu's were single core and the duals were so much smoother. Just old habits that are hard to change.
I also like the quality that you get in the server boards. They just plain last and don't break.
Sitting in the other room is a 1997 SM S2DGU MB with 2-700/2mb/100 P3 xeons in it. retired now but it ran 24/7 most of 2006 on Rosetta doing it's 450 points a day and serving as a ftp server.
That's a 10 year old board thats still good and usable..and Overclocks!
I think the last SM board that did.

A fine example of a joke that didn't work out.

Right.... I've tested Kent full 100% load at about 220W. Would be interesting which is the more economical. Tell me when it gets in.
