and i have 1 200g and 1 320g sata hdd's

which motherboard will be best for me ABiT AB9 QUAD GT or Asus Commando I like gaming and will overclock are there any heat issues with either of these boards ?

I had both board, now Im using the Commando, I think the newer revisions of Commando is an awsome mobo for extreme overclocking, or gaming, or for everything, but the QuadGT is a bit faster in tests because the 1066strap, but for max 24/7 reachable fsb "only" around 500 with a good cpu on air. The GT has got little bugs, thats because abit support is far away from asus, we use beta bioses since december. So if you dont want to do some hardcore overclocking GT is best for you, its price is lower too, but dont forget to look up the new DFI Infinity P965 mobo, Its like the QuadGT, but I think without bugs, better memory handling and more tweaking options, for lower price, but hard to get it now.
regards

When you say the DFI is like the Abit, are you talking about the FSB strap? That would be awesome if the DFI held the 1066 strap. Do you know if this is true?

Also, it sounds like the original poster isn't a hardcore overclocker, so I'd probably recommend the QUADGT. I have it and I love it. It is faster compared to my P5W DH was. I run my E6600 at 400x9 which is nothing special, but it's higher than I could achieve with my old board. Good solid board that will be even better with a bios update.

Yes, I was talking about the fsb strap, the reason why the board is faster than the other p965 boards is, the strap dont change from 1066 to 1333 after 400fsb, the max is the 1066. So DFI like the abit, but I think more overclockable.

At first glance the DFI-965S looks even better then the 2 above. It looks like a flat out amazing board. Of the two you mentioned I like the Abit board now that the bios is getting better. I am also getting ready to build a new system and I was leaning towards the Quad-GT but the new DFI board looks sweet

I'd call it a second gen, advanced version of the p5b-dlx. The voltage options are expanded and the BIOS is generally a bit cleaner. From my own personal experience, the board is more stable than 2 of the 3 P5B-Dlx's I have, for instance I dont have the cold reboot issue with my Commando that many people, including myself, experience on P5B-dlx's. I have also hit a slightly higher FSB overclock on Commando than P5B-Dlx.

There is an LED screen that gives reason for failures to post that could be useful to people and I personally really like the changed direction of the sata connectors, even though I dont use sata. It really is just a cleaner, sexier board than the P5B-Dlx that I personally have experienced less weird glitchy issues with. I'd say if you own P5B-Dlx no need to upgrade but if you looking to buy a new 965 m/b then the 2nd gen Commando is certainly worth the extra $20-30 to get over the 1st gen P5B-Dlx in my opinion.

personally the asus is too expensive, clock for clock the abit wins, but if you can wait it looks like the new DFI is faster and cheaper.

good question. Ewiz had them till yesterday and now out of stock. Well sort of since they put some up on ebay. I would imagine, and this is just my guess, that they will get to the Egg around the time of the price cuts and the new Cpus.

If you Have Chip with L2 4M ( E6600, E6700, X6800 ) go to ABIT AB9 Quad GT, If you Have Chip with L2 2M ( E6300, E6400 ) Go to ASUS Commando or DFI !!!

I have to say DFI all the way. The 965-S is by far the best board I have ever owned. I am doing 490FSB 1:1 with every memory timming on AUTO I am trying to find max clocks and thus letting the bios handle timmings till I am happy with my max clocks, then I will go tighten up the ram, and sub timmings. It also put my D9 ram at 4/4/4/12 timmings without me even setting them. This board will get me my 500FSB 1:1 3500MHZ with my 6300. That was my goal and I am pretty sure I can reach it. Also Mobo 100% stock. Unless you are a hardcore bencher, stock N/B does fine. Just throw a fan over it. Not one time have I had to clear the cmos. There also no memory holes from my testing, I can't say enought how happy I am. Can't say the same for an older DS3 rev 1.0 board I had in the past.

QuadGT rapes Commando, who wants slow 1333 strap??
QuadGT can do above 500fsb 1066 strap.
On same strap, the QuadGT is also faster.
Commando is better for memory clocking.
DFI P965-S has to prove itself yet, but i have high hopes for this board.
I would go DFI

>Crucial M4 128Gb Msata
>Cooler Master Seidon 120M
Hell yes its a mini-ITX gaming rig!
