gtj :
Kinda confuse as to use 1:1 or 4:5 or 2:3. All along i thought 1:! was the ideal ratio to use until a couple threads back.
What's the difference of a 3:2 or 5:4 compared to the former. Is there such a thing ?

There's no evidence that "1:1" is any different than the other ratios. Maybe there's some advantage on other or older chipsets but not on the 975X. Use whatever combination of reference and memory frequency gets you the highest stable throughput.
A 3:2 or 5:4 FSB:MEM ratio means your memory will actually be SLOWER than your FSB. Unless you are running an FSB over 450 you probably don't want to do that.

gtj,
if my orthos is stable for 4hrs ++ but my OCCT (30mins on ram and cpu) fails in the last 9 minutes, is my system/oc considered stable ?

I'm beginning to think stability is a state of mind. My Ram has been acting strange the last couple of days. FAH is EUE ing but Memetest cant find any issues. Ive dropped back to 2.6 for a while just to take a break. Yaknow, its not that much slower :-)

Just one general BX2 question, please.
I just received one, haven't tried it yet.
Another forum member described use of a BX2 as a "jumper parade", although he wasn't using it with a C2D.
Is this really the case?
Do you need constant access to BX2 jumpers, making it hard to put the cover on your case?
Thanks,
Andrew
Hey guys,
I'm a new owner of a BX2 / e6600 combo. Been reading gtj's page, great stuff.
Right now I'm at 2792 MHz (310x9) on default everythings (only changed FSB, enabled the slope, and disabled the Marvell controller) and 3+ hours Orthos Blend stable. I know that 2808 (312x9) is unstable. Can't figure that one out. I've pushed the RAM voltage, MCH, cpu voltage, etc... with no change. I've dropped RAM back to 667 setting (currently at 800), no change (unstable). Right now even the RAM is at stock voltage (1.84v, 5-5-5-18) and clocking at 465MHz and is stable.
I pushed settings to:
FSB 1.40
MCH 1.60
CPU 1.40
Memory 2.08
tried DDR667
it seems no matter what I try, 312+ FSB just doesn't want to happen with orthos blend. I've been as high as 345, with cpu volts as high as 1.475 in BIOS, but that was orthos cpu unstable (but did boot and run windows). I tried just running with it @ 3GHz, but when I tried to encode a video (MPEG2 to DVD), it crashed on me about 15 minutes in to the encode (a 1 1/2 hour process, likely).
My system specs: new e6600 (L707A), Crucial Ballistix DDR2-1000, Corsair HX-520 power supply, thermalright ultra-120 hs with 120mm fan, xfx 7600gt vid card, fan over video card / northbridge, exhaust fan out back
My goal was to hit 3GHz with a 500MHz memory frequency and be blend stable.
To address the "jumper parade", I wired a switch outside my box. It's easy for a cable guy to make a cable.I've only used it once though. Everything else has been in the regular BIOS.
Edit: I may have answered my own question.
I found that I need to pull power completely from the system in order for the new Vcore to be active. I set the voltage to 1.400 in BIOS, and saw no change in Everest (1.31). I then pulled power completely, and now Everest is at 1.36 volts. I'm currently chugging Orthos blend at 315x9 and so far so good... So I may do some experimenting towards that end.
Edit: currently at 327x9 (2950), bios volts at 1.425 (Everest @ 1.38V), I went ahead and set memory volts to 2.00 (491MHz mem clock), and am 30 minutes in to an orthos blend test. Time to go for 3GHz...

The switch you are referring to is just the one for the hidden settings?
If so, no big deal.
Just trying to see if there is any reason to go to try out a DFI 965-S. Since I have an E6600, and have never used any multiplier other than 9 x and never gone above 390 FSB, I can't see any advantage to a 965 board. Am I missing something?
At this point, I have had a DH Deluxe, a P5W64, and a couple of other 975x and 965 boards for very short periods. Was going to the BX2 (which I have already received) for the reported stability, but I DON'T WANT a board that I constantly have to "futz" with, once the basic tweaking is done with.
The DFI seems somewhat appealing just for the solid caps.
Dunno,
Andrew

sorry for crappy quality
I used a switch and old wires from a case (Power Led)
you can mount the switch on your case also![]()

But why do you prefer orthos..the GUI?
Forceman..thanks..that really sucks
Looks like MWave is where I will have to buy the board
Supertim0r....can you make the switch and sell them..I bet alot of badaxe2 users would love it....
also how do you find the newer bios's for OCing..I have seen a few comment the 2395 bios is not as good for example as 2333 for OCing?

Hi guys need some help. I been following this for long time now . been trying different boards ever since my badaxe seemed to have died about month ago. The other day i pulled it out of the box and dusted it off. removed battery for a day Put it back in and guess what? it booted and seemed to be fine. Have 1 problem. I cant get it to boot with 2 sticks of ram I have tried 3 different setts and no luck so far. Boots with 1 stick everytime. In jumper mode I go to bios set vdimm 2.2 shut down install second stick with no luck. Also tried higher vdimm no luck. I was cooling the northbridge liquid chilled and it got to cold condensation was the result. Thats why it was put away a month ago. I thought it was dead but its not. This board seems to be the best i have tried with my quad core. Any help would be great.
