    Bill,
Your not going to like this but for some reason F7 is not listed in the manuals "on-board LED Codes" list? Are you sure your LED code is indeed "F7"? Let me know as whatever code your getting should be listed in the manual right?

Did it work fine in your last motherboard? If you havn't had any problems with it before this motherboard I would be very suprised if it died all of a sudden? I just saw that your running your G80's in SLI, I image you have tried just running one card during setup? At the very least one of the two cards you have should work fine, I would be even more suprised if both cards died!

With that said make sure you try installing and seating the card again to make sure it's installed correclty and fully! Not only that but make sure your power connectors are connected and have sufficient juice (maybe measure rails with DMM)? Basically try a few different things to make sure the problem is your card(s) and not something else like not being installed correctly or not getting enough juice! Keep us posted and good luck!

would you mind linking me the info on how to do it? I did it on my commando and it was like I had gotten a new processor (that's how much better things are). It as simple as the commando pencil mod? Thanks!

Well guys my 2nd replacment 680i A1 revision is scheduled for delivery in 1-2hrs (fingers crossed) and I should have it up and running within a few hours of that hopefully. eVGA happily accepted my RMA request because of the loud buzzing/hissing electrical noises my first replacment 680i A1 suffered from (eVGA has great customer service in my opinion)! I've been running a P5B-Deluxe in the meantime that I bought used from the "For Sale" thread here. I must say that motherboard is very impressive to say the least, infact it might replace my eVGA 680i depending on how well my new replacment works?

In anycase I'll post back with some initial results on the new revision replacment, hoping for no buzzing/hissing noises!

Please post some results w/ your CPU's - comparative with older revision please

I spoke with EVGA in Cebit and they informed that GTLREF enhaced boards should give only FSB gains with Quad Cores, not Dual Cores

Anyway they may send a A1 board and I will do an extensive comparative review with : QX6700, X6800 and E6700..

    Pedro,
I will do my best to compare both boards to one another, luckily I made note of my testing results on the AR version before it got shipped back to eVGA. Although VR-Zone already did a comprehensive article on what changes were actually made between the two boards (the SMD components next to socket for GTLREF) I noticed some additional changes between the two boards but nothing major. I think that most people just want to hear about the FSB speed increase with C2Q installed so that is where I'll start with testing!

I'm suprised you havn't gotten one of these boards for testing yet, someone must be willing to give it up for a bit?

have any of you gues who have changed your boards to the never version noticed any improvement with dual core chips when overclocking them. is there any point of upgrading my EVGA to newer version if i have a C2D cpu ?

    Solarfall,
I havn't heard from anyone saying that the new revision offered any performance increases over the AR version for C2D, not for FSB speeds and not for overall clockspeeds? Unfortunetly I didn't have a chance to fully test myself before I RMA'ed the new revision but hopefully the 2nd replacment will be a different story!

Well that was my fault, kind busy professionally after I return from Cebit. Only yesterday send the e-mail to EVGA..

I still have one older 122-CK-NF68-TR in my mini-cascade but is fully moded (on principle I never exchange a moded board) so I can compare with the A1 board.

As you can see the mini-cascade that Ricky build for me use a VapoLS Kit for CPU, so I can exchange the motherboard and CPU in 2 or 3 minutes maximum

    Nice work Ricky

I heard the EVGA likes to eat memory due to incorrect ram voltages. If it is true, does this problem still afflict the new revisions? Also does it still have the FSB holes? If so whats the range? Thanks.

situman that's nonsense........few inexperienced people killed their RAM because they didn't power off the board properly when installing RAM....and cases are few a far between........people were saying the same thing about DFI NF4 boards when they first came out >>> too much hysteria really

OK what about fsb holes? I would actually find that more annoying.

the evga 680i i tested was a little finicky with FSB. I could not for the life of me post past 1798MHz FSB >> I had a wall there...i could clockgen to 500MHz but not all the time either lol....it was a little strange

I bought one of these right when they came out and it was littered with dead spots. Took it back after less than a week. Just bought a new T1 and it's a much improved board/bios combo now. It will recover from just about anything you care to throw at it. Really pretty fun to work with....I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this over any other 680i based board, especially for the price.

Today I put 1 Evga 8800 GTX KO ACS³ Edition in the EVGA 680i at the mini-cascade

Card full stock overclocks easy to 670-1050 here is a pic

I raised the PCIe in Bios to 145, do some basic 3Dmark01 tweaking and here is what I got

Near 80K with a single stock card not bad, have another ACS³ for a SLI article, so 90K stock video cards should be easy

Not bad at all Pedro, especially on an aircooled G80! I bet that heatsink got pretty darn hot during testing, lol! By the way, if you remove that ACS cover is it just the stock heatsink below (of course besides the heatsink on the bottom of card)? In anycase it seems to clock higher than some watercooled cards!

    Old Guy,
I see your running P25 on your T1 revision, did you specifically load P25 over P26 because you like it better or is that that the BIOS that shipped? Just curious as my A1 revision shipped with P26 and I havn't had any major issues with it yet?

Nope...haven't flashed yet. Came with P25. I don't have any technical issues so I'm just going to stick with it till I've exhausted my oc options then I'll try P26 to see if it has any benefits. Don't wanna go bouncing back and forth till I know for sure what P25 can do...
