Thanx for monitoring official forums... it's work for the team important also

Might as well put the direct link here: click

[warning]As there is said... bugs will happen and work will lost... IT'S BETA! [/warning] (so no whining if EUEs come... those should be reported at official forums)

Great finding again Scimitar... keep us posted!

Looking good so far, about 35 minutes a frame or 600ppd. More than double of 2 Supervillans.

Running it now on my borrowed parts from my friend. FahMon doesn't know what it is exactly though so I don't know what PPD I'm getting from it. I'm running a borrowed X2 3800+ @ 2.6GHz right now.

What does this client mean? Faster times for each WU?

if you get the modified version of FahMon by uncle-fungus and get his modified psummary, it works just fine. Time per frame is about 30s less than running VMware Linux

I think it just saves time from having to load and install 2 versions. Also, this will probably have its own projects (which means no 21XX projects).

right now the benefits is that your CPU is loaded 100% on one client, and the points. upwards of 1760 points on a single WU that takes 11-13mins per frame.

Mine seemed to fire up ok this morning before I left for work, and appeared to be using 100% cpu also. I'll see what state it's in when I get home, I was getting ~20mins a frame on the biggies in VMware, I'm reading that Win32 might not be as efficient as I thought - and that VMware might still be the way to go.... I'll find out later, if it made it past frame #1.

    the -1 error ....

    5. Troubleshooting:

If the client reports an error code -1, it is likely due to an mpi problem. Try re-registering mpiexec by running mpiexec –register or install.bat.

I had to set a password on my windows account to get it fired up & authenticated too, that & allowing the components when Windows Firewall complains during the install.

edit - are you in the UK at the moment angra? - I ask because the timestamps apear to be ~14:30 on your fah output there

Do you have .Net 2.0 installed?

Mine is at about 28% on a 1,500 point work unit with no errors so far.

yeah really, I'm personally thinking that its easier to run it in a VM than it is to do natively. Too much of a pita and too many bugs so far.

I am not in the UK, sorry!

I don't know what is making the timezones off and I am too lazy to fix it!

everything runs fine now, I just had to do the install.bat thing. far be it for me to actually read instructions.

I've been crunching using the SMP client since yesterday late afternoon and I'm at 39%, running on a borrowed X2 3800+ @ 2.6GHz. No errors yet. This sound about right? It is a project 2610, not sure on its pointage yet. Looking in that link that sc00p provided for the modded FahMon now.

*EDIT* I got it downloaded, 1523 ponts, 645 PPD. I wonder how it would go on my opty 165 @ 2.8GHz. I was getting more PPD from my X1900XT + a separate CPU client going. Guess we'll see what happens, but I'll at least keep running it until I get my parts back from warranty. Now if I pick up a dual core CPU for one of my dedicated crunchers I'll put the SMP client on there for sure.

    Getting about 17 mins/frame on a p2652 here...

    Project 2610: 1523 points, deadline 4 days
    Project 2651: 1760 points, deadline 4 days
    Project 2652: 1148 points, deadline 3 days

Doesn't look so good considering VMware kicks out a 1760-pointer at 20 mins/frame. Still not bad though...

now the big question: what if we run the GPU client? should we stick to non-SMP client + GPU or SMP + GPU? Hmm.

The Win32 SMP was using 100% CPU when I ran a unit, so there probably isnt the spare CPU time by default - if you set it to 90% or 80% utilisation, then maybe you'd have enough CPU time to run the GPU client alongside it too Make a note of your frame times on the SMP & GPU clients running on their own, then have a play with running them together (and setting priority/utilisation in the client setup) & see how the frame times are affected.

With a dual core CPU running the SMP client I wouldn't run the GPU client with it since each core is already busy with 2 threads. Now a quad core system might be worth it - my friend (servin247365) is trying that out on his dual FX-70's and was getting 12 minutes or so per frame on the GPU client with a minimal impact on the SMP client. We'll see how that goes.

I got project 2651 now. It seams much better suited to a dual core Athlon64. Getting better frame times than 2610, despite being worth more than 200 more points.
