UFO Horizon case build and thoughts.

There will be lots of pics of this case because before I bought it I had a real hard time finding quality pics from all angles of this case. Thanks to Phillyboy, Marci, Petrastechshop and Sidewinder computers for the help.

    Pros:
Excellent visibility of components from any angle, working on motherboard and water blocks is so much easier in horizontal position, removable motherboard tray, Nice pre cut holes for rads, Nice paint job, Very sturdy tank like construction, Lots of room, wheel casters, Idealy suited for one rad installation. Best case I have ever owned or worked on, my last case was the Koolance PC41026 and I loved that case. Dual PSU mount avaliable. Everything is modular including the two front 5.25 bays so you can take it out and install devices then slide back in as a whole block. You can check your motherboard for bowing, easy access to the reset bios pins. Very good ventilation with lots of 120mm blow holes or intake holes.

Cons: Power supply mount on the bottom needs support strut for heavy 1KW PSUs, Hard drive mounting options are really bad when using two radiators since they use 120 mm fan hole mounts this blocks second radiator, Case gets tight when second rad is added, if you like big raid setups like 6 HDs you cant do it with this case and use two radiators. front panel cables should be sleeved. Case would be ideal with 5 more inches in height.

I had to make the second radiator pull air from inside of the case because the power supply from the pcpowercooling exhaust was to hot and would be heating the air coming into the back of the case. If you could exhaust the air from the PSU away from the area where the case sits you could use 6 hard drives and have the air pulled in from the back of the case. From the pics you will see in the front panel I used a Kama Sycthe drive 120mm cooler unit to mount my hardrives in the front so as to avoid blocking the back radiator.
    http://www.xoxide.com/scythe-kama-bay-cooler-black.html

    http://www.performance-pcs.com/catal...ducts_id=21294

I put a panaflow medium 120x38 fan in there to blow air to the second rad in back of case. Specs are the following:

EVGA 8800 GTX-SLI setup, XFI Fatality, EVGA 680i MB, Intel QX6700, PCpowercooling 1kw-SR PSU, Liteon 18XDVD, 10k WD raptors, Corsair 9136 5C dominator ram. UFO Horizon case, two thermochill radiators PA120.3 and PA120.2, Koolance 950 pump/resovoir combo in 5.25 bay and DDC Petratop pump, Dtek Fuzion CPU cooling block and two Danger Den 8800gtx blocks, Danger Den NB block, EVGA south bridge fan, lapped cpu. Koolance coolant with my dilution. All fans are Yate Loon except one panaflow medium speed in front. All fans are pulling except for second rad where I had two extra fans so I made it a push pull. System is very quiet except for my PCpowerandcooling 1kw humming.

    Loop 1: PA120.3 rad----DD 8800GTXSLI--DD 680i NB-- swiftech Res-- DDC 2 pump/petratop

    Loop 2: PA 120.2--Dtek Fuzion -- Koolance 950 res/DDC2 ---

Using the Koolance integrated pump and res saved me alot of tubing routing and made it easier for two loop set up. http://www.koolance.com/shop/product...roducts_id=419

Ok pics of case bare and then built hope it helps. Love this case by the way! Im going to go back and redo all the tubing to 7/16 the 1/2 is way bulky.

Ambient temps are 28C-30C, I live in Las and my room gets hot. Under load large fft in prime 95 I get 52-55C, small fft I get 57-60C. Not bad for quiet fans

Great timing! I've been making out my parts list for my first w.c. build and first UFO build (also going with Horizon) and have been having difficulty visualing everything because, as you note, the MMods website doesn't have lots of alternate views of the cases. This is very helpful, thanks for taking the time to take so many pictures.

I didn't see it listed - is that a fan controller there? If so, which one and are you actually altering the fan speeds?

awesome work man, wished I had one of those ; damn no importer here so I had to build one of my own. Nice work on the tubing and cable management !!
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

With the Yate Loons you really dont need a fan controller even with the 12m model since the fans are so quiet even at 1700 rpm. I mainly use the fan controller unit for the panaflow 120x38 in the front panel because its rated at 2200rpm and I use the controller for monitoring up to 4 heat sensors. Here is the one I use its got three different front plate covers and 4 led colors

You can use standard power supply screws to hold the psu at the bottom of the case where they have a cut out for the psu. I used this product from petras http://www.petrastechshop.com/posusovida.html it is a dampening gasket. The high density foam block comes with it so I folded it in half and put it under the power supply as a support strut and it works perfect, it dampens and supports the back of the power supply. The gasket also helps vibration of the case when the psu fan is on overdrive. If you look in my pics you will see a blueish gasket in the power supply port.

The guys at mountain mods and Marci told me just to mount one fan on the case. The second fan closest to the barbs will mount on the radiator then to the case. Apperently four screws is good enough to hold the PA120.2 from just one fan mount. It works great you have very little side effect of mis matched blow holes.

Thanks for all the kind words everyone, coming from you guys that means a lot.

Make sure to buy plenty of fan dampening gaskets it really helps seal the fan against the case. http://www.petrastechshop.com/12sovida.html

    relocated drives

I figured out a nice new home for my drive bay. I can now use 3 drives by relocating them away from the front intake fan and putting them up on the empty shelf or the top of the support bar for the motherboard tray. The air from the P120.3 should give it plenty of air flow. And I get to see my raptor drive window now. Ive got them temporarily sitting in place with industrial velcro and its totally stable but I will most likely drill one hole for an anchor screw and bolt.

I second that! MM cases although expensive are getting really popular and it would be nice to have concentrated info about them grouped together.
Hardware :Asus Rampage Extreme, 4870X2 (Crossfire X) EK FC Blocks, CPU Q9550@490FSB/4,180Ghz, RAM 4GB DDR3, Auzentech Prelude X-fi,PSU - Thermaltake Toughpower 1200 Watt,

Nice build Redcorn wondering though how did you mount the fan filter in the right 5.25" bays? is there enough room to mount a 120mm behind it?
