I was wondering if something like that might happen. Not having a flexible couple in place to absorb the thermal expansion is bound to place stress on those clips. In my first bolt-down mod, I used spacers under the clips to maintain the same distance, (and pressure), from the motherboard that the pins do.

I switched to the use of springs because it allows the system to flex during warm-up. There still is some torque being applied to the clips, and I’ve considered putting spacers under the clips to limit it.
