Well here's my entry into the fun. Still trying to figure out the timings and everything. Pretty good for 2 days of testing with an Intel after spending the last 6 years with AMD.

    Hey guys,

Just got my e6600 and p5n32-e plus installed. Everything is working great, except for the fact that I am unable to change the Vcore. Any voltage I select in the bios yields a Vcore of 1.4v...unless I jump up to 1.60 Vcore, which then yeilds 1.55.

I have tried the vdroop mod, and while that has eliminated any droop, I'm still not really able to choose much in terms of Vcore.

    Any ideas?

update the bios to 0902 BETA or 0903 Official..

    OR

flash it back to 0302 =)

Those are the only Bios versions where you're able to freely control the VCORE =)

    Enjoys!

    Anyone try running DDR2-1000?

I've set my mem to 1000 and fsb to 1600 (4:5 effectively).

I've been trying to mess with superpi 32M the last few hours but I'm having problems. I've tried vNB all the way up to 1.7 but no luck.

The 8000HZ's I have are rated up to 2.4 volts but even at 2.4, I can't get passed 8-10 loops.

have you tried 2.42 in the bios? run orthos Large for 11 minutes to see if you need to go higher in the volts for your memory. Asus probe helps a lot to check your actual load volts, but of course using a multi-meter is better.

yeah. i tried up to 2.42 but no go.

i just tried 2000/1000 linked and 2000/1000 unlinked and both appear to work!

    however, 1600/1000 unlinked DOESN'T work

that just doesn't make sense to me. i guess i will have to keep tweaking. this board has lots of voltage options and what not that is making it difficult but fun!

    anyone else try 1600/1000 unlinked?

Start your NB at 1.50 and the SB at 1.55. If they don't work then move up from there.

I've tried vNB all the way up to 1.7.

1.7 will make it through about 8-10 loops before my computer reboots.

I was able to do 2000/1000 linked and unlinked with vNB at 1.6 and vdimm at 2.35.

SB I've kept at 1.55 and vTT I keep at 1.4-1.45.

It's just strange that 1600/1000 won't work (which is like running 4:5 on 965/975) but 2000/1000 (which is running 1:1 on 965/975) does.

I thought that 1:1 was always more stressful to a mobo than 4:5 (assuming same mem frequency).

For NB, I've got a swiftech mcx159cu on it and it fits fine but i have a WB on the cpu. I think the tuniq should fit with it as long as you orient the tuniq into a certain position (i have a tuniq at home, let me see if it'll fit when i get there).

thanks shimmishim: I want to keep my Tuniq oriented in the correct position, Ive known people who have misoriented the Tuniq, and their CPU temps went way up. Im thinking of just rigging a chipset fan and putting it on top of the NB cooler

that'll work too. one thing i've noticed is that even with the 159cu, the chipset get HOT!

my NB only needs 1.55 volts but I'm watercooling it. asus probe reports even at 1.55volts it will spike up to 1.61 volts. I suggest people do the vcore and droop pencil mod for this board to run lower volts.

edit: I've managed to get stable with only 1.5v on the NB now.

    i think that's a good suggestion.

i'm not comfortable with a pencil mod though. i'd prefer pulling out the soldering iron and doing a droop mod with a VR.

All right, everyone with this board, please try 1600 / 1000 unlinked 4-4-4-X with 9x mult.

    Then try 1800 / 1000 unlinked 4-4-4-x with 8x mult.

    Then try 2000 / 1000 linked or unlinked 4-4-4-x with 7x mult.

I want to see if anyone else is having issues with the 9x mult and 1600 / 1000 unlinked as 1600 / 1000 is the only one that won't work for me.

I think 8x is the sweet spot for my chip. Currently working on 1800 / 1030 right now 4-4-4-5 with 2.35 volts on mem.

1.55 seems higher for the SB, but I myself have not been able to get 1600/1000 to work in unlinked.

    shimmishim are you running 1800 / 1030 with a multi at 9?

No, that is with an 8x mult.

    1800 / 1030 passed superpi 32M

    Now I'm trying 1800 / 1050 32M.

I think my 8x is the sweet spot.

    1600 / 1000 with 9x is a bust.

    I'm on bios 0602 btw.

Have you compared the two different versions of 3.6Ghz (8x450 vs 9x400) in 32MB superpi, if so what are they?

    I could do a 8 x 450 mem at 400 vs. 9 x 400 mem at 400.

    i can't do 8 x 450 mem at 500 vs. 9 x 400 mem at 500 which is what i would like to do.

i'm giving orthos blend a go at 8 x 450 mem at 525 right now.

Is something wrong with this mobo?

I just received a P5N32 SLI Plus and a q6600 from NewEgg. I can't get the FSB over 1200. When I received the board it came with the 0302 bios, I flashed it to the 0602 which gave me the same result. I've tried several different types of memory but no matter what I do, as soon as I set the FSB over 1200 or so, I get to the boot screen and it locks up and the only way I can change anything is to do a manual CMOS. Is it possible I have a defective motherboard? Does anyone have any suggestions.

Is it possible I have a defective motherboard? Does anyone have any suggestions.
