I wonder if I would notice any difference in speed or gaming If i changed from an E6600 to the Q6600?

    this chart looks promising:

Question: How high does it clock on 1.1V and what does it pull in W while in idle at this Vcore? I'm thinking EIST at 1.1 and 1.325V like I do with my 6600 (see sign.).

Right now I just run it @ 3300-3350 on stock voltage, idle temps are 40-50s depending on ambients, and how long its on, blah blah... on stock it pulls ~360ish watts, but I also have 8800GTX SLI, so I would think that 100+ more watts than a normal stock E6600 is 100% possible.

I use a multi of 12x-14x, so running EIST sometimes makes it a little odd, so I just have it turned off...

That chart reflects 3Dmark06's use of all 4 cores for the CPU test. Which is completely unrealistic at the current time

For any current game I can think of, It won't have any advantage at all over a dual core.

Still wondering what level of multicore (multithreading) support the likes of Crysis will have?

Crysis will have an option to completely do environmental calculations on a separate core, so it will need at least dual core cpu to play properly I had somewhere a list of upcoming games that support quad cores, UT3 is one of them

Valve's update to the Source engine liked multiple cores very much as well. Load gets balanced unto all available cores. whether it's 2, 4 or 256.

I know benchmarks with it on current cames like COD2, quake4, half life, ect... show really no improvement, but Im trying to build a DX10 rig so this would probably be a good purchase for it.

    okay,dumb question

What's the best bang for the buck,if you look at the numbers Wombat gave in this thread? Q6600 or an E6850

I'm NO graphic artist, and no xtreme o'c-er(to be honest,i wanna take my first steps with this with my upcoming rig->i know the people overhere at XS will help me with it,lol

I'm mere a hardcore gamer and i wanna try most of the upcoming games, and i know they'll ask a LOT from your machine

look here. You will clearly see that the E6X00 is just as good as the E6X50 even with the 1333FSB

Looks like Intel is cutting prices to try and curb the beating they're going to take once AMD gets their act together and realeases K10. I wouldnt be too excited about all this quite yet, wait and see what K10 is like before you hail this the new champion for O/Cers.

On paper K10 is atleast 1/3 faster per clock than Conroe, just keep that in mind.

but I want to play Alan Wake with all the physics goodies cranked... It's not a need... Its a want. by that point I figure it'll be a moderately justifiable upgrade to follow my choice of DX10 card.

yes it will support but quads will never make a difference in gaming especially with DX10

Do you realize it will be more than a year and probably more than two before Alan Wake is released?

Except it's not really a Quad.

Maybe this is in preperation of K10 kicking Core 2's ass?
    Most unlikely. Else its like saying a 450$ 6000+ beats a 300, soon 220$ E6600?

Itīs more like an ongoing murder on AMDs financial situation.
