you're asking a 50watt tec to move 200watts of heat, with a low heat processor that cooler may work well, but as you scale in heat output it cannot keep up, especially kents... I'm trying to help you not possibly burn your processor, and moreso possibly stop your cpu from throttling. 6000 seti pts a week is good but consider my kent put out 3k - 4k pts/day @ 60C in coretemp
Well according to the front panel(Which is hardware and Not Software, I know the difference) of the Vigor Monsoon II the cold plate is reading 35C right now, Of course that is cause of the uneven load due to a faulty Bios not overclocking the cpu evenly like It should and does on My P5W which is at 45C currently, The P5W is at 36C according to Speedfan 4.31, I won't use Core Temp as It doesn't come close to what the hardware is telling Me. I do pretty good in Seti, I'm 9th out of 169 team members and in 29 days or so I'll get to 8th place, I out produce the top guy right now too, Right now My Rac is 9126.88 and I only have 4 PCs too.

Also as I said earlier I don't get any reboots when the ram is set to 1:1, Just at 2:3 and that is cause the NB heatsink sucks, Otherwise It's completly stable, So the Reboots are not caused by a cpu heat problem which is FUD.

Tweaktown has a review of the Vigor Monsoon II and It's here.
The cpu is a hot Athlon FX-53 of course.

Of course PC Perspectives has an earlier review too(No I don't work there, I just hang out there, As It's a hobby for Me).
    http://www.pcper.com/article.php?aid=273&type=expert
The Monsoon II control module also contains an audible alarm that will sound if the temperature drops below 15°C or rises above 70°C.

First, the temps your trusting as golden are being provided by the hardware in question in support of itself. So if it said it was cooling your cpu to -10 degrees, would you believe that also.

Unless your using some sort of probe to provide real temps i wouldnt be so confident in what the monsoon is telling you.

Second, it seems like your have no real interest in believing what you've been told time and time again. The monsoon isnt sufficient in cooling a kent at a high oc let alone a moderate one. You arent the only person to ever make an uninformed purchase but no matter how much denial your in, it doesnt really make the truth any different. Air tecs arent very good.

Third, this discussion has gotten incredibly off topic and turned into a free for all about your general ocing problems aw9d-max related or otherwise. If you wish to continue about the monsoon and feel you have some real documentation and results to back your position then continue that in the air cooling or tec cooling sub-forum.

    LOL FX53???

Your air tec is garbage. A 50W TEC wont move 200+ watts of heat.

Kunnak runs his QX6700 higher on the stock heatsink than you do on that TEC POS, guess why...

can confirm this! what i measured on my aw9d-max:

setting in bios idle before vmch booster load before vmch booster idle after vmch booster load after vmch booster

    1,50 1,427 1,421 1,464 1,464
    1,55 1,474 1,468 1,511 1,511
    1,60 1,524 1,517 1,563 1,563
    1,65 1,566 1,559 1,606 1,606
    1,70 1,613 1,606 1,655 1,655
    1,75 1,661 1,654 1,705 1,705
    1,80 1,710 1,702 1,755 1,755
    1,85 1,755 1,748 1,802 1,802
    1,90 1,806 1,798 1,854 1,854
    1,95 1,851 1,843 1,901 1,901
    2,00 1,900 1,891 1,951 1,952

you can see clearly the improvement to vmch stability by hipros vmch booster mod! voltage drop is half of the drop as it was without the mod. also, after applying this mod, the drop between idle and load went away completely after installing the mod!

load measurements were done after a few minutes in orthos.

If 7x can do 410, 9x should be able to do 410.

    agree to fhpchris!

would suspect vcore be too low ...

The silly new air/TEC hybrid coolers are just a big heatpipe sink with a 50w TEC on the top of the baseplate that touches the CPU. The TEC doesn't contact the CPU.

    i dont understand
if you are looking for vcore readout points you find them on the back of the board. this coils are soldered to the board at two contact points. the contact point closer to the cpu socket is the place to measure vcore.
as the post says, you can also measure at one of the two contacts of the capacitor. the correct one is easy to find, because one of them is ground and the other one vcore. i personally use the coils, as the soldering points of the coils are pretty big and easy to access.

    Dear AW9D-Max users,

I am the proud owner of a Abit AW9D-Max mobo. Rock solid, quality build.

Now there are some issues that may be solved by a new bios (or not)

    1. The possibility to run 4:5 DDR1000 @ 4-4-4-15 even @ stock is impossible
    2. The possibility to run 1:1 DDR1000 @ 4-4-4-15 even @ stock is impossible
    3. The possibility to run 1:1 DDR800 @ 3-3-3-10 even @ stock is impossible
    4. The possibility to adjust cpu vtt to 1.4v (very high overclocks possible !)
    5. The possibility to adjust all of the termination voltages
    6. The ability to go above FSB 438 from the bios
    7. I had the program the SPD because of extreme instability with alle Abit bios versions. Tony (OCZ) helped me out

I know that there are serveral 975x mobos wich can do DDR1000 @ 4-4-4-15 and DDR800 @ 3-3-3-10 (Asus P5W DH deluxe/Bad Axe 2). It seems a NB timing issue.

    My current setup:

    AW9D-Max with active nb cooler
    OCZ Ti Alpha PC8000 @ 4-4-4-15. Micron D9GMH
    E6600 @ 9*400 3.6 ghz @ 1:1 DDR800 @ 4-3-3-4-20 timings
    vMCH 1.75v
    vCore 1.4375v
    vDimm 2.35v
    1066 FSB strap
    WD raptor 74 gb
    eVGA 8800 GTX @ 640/1500/2100
    OCZ GameXtreem 600w
Thermaltake Armor with 25 cm side fan
    Tuniq Tower

With these settings the system is 24 hours orthos stable. But i cannot overclock beyond FSB 438, doesnt matter what voltage or strap. The system is completely stable @ 8*438 set in BIOS, but @ 439 no boot ! In Windows the FSB can be set @ 8*450 wich is rock solid.

I hope this info is usefull for you,

Noticed fgw's post a bit earlier and flashed immediately using flashmenu. No performance numbers yet (judging from my temps and my many attempts to improve cooling, it looks like I've got a concave 6600 that is in serious need of a good lapping before I'm going to achieve suitable cooling for proper oc'ing) but it didn't bork my box so that's a good sign at least.

Im interested to see how people feel about this new bios. Im going to be selling this mobo, I loved the speed, but I really needed a board to get my 6600 @4.0 (with no board mods)

I've updated BIOS 14. Can't boot with 2 RAM modules. Only 1. Downgraded back to 13.
