yup that looks right
We are still looking for V4. I don't think MS gave that guy the right version when they told him it was V4. You clearly have V3 and it says so on the file. Where is V4?
Can someone call MS and ask them for it, please? Make sure it reads v4.
Edit: wait when I installed V3 and click on the supporting link it took me to the MS website with V4 on it instead of V3 back in July. I don't believe there is a V4 out.

I tried the hotfix and the registry fix. Under Idle my multi still drops to 6x. It does just back to 10x when it's needed, but I would like to disable this. I have a Bad Axe MB.

ummm guys....
The revision 3, 4 etc is when there have been changes to the actual web page, not the hotfix.
The hotfix is from september 2005 and i believe that this would relate more to AMD chips...
You can install it if you want but i dont think it will change anything unless you are getting bad performance already!
I have access to the hotfix portal and there is only the 1 hotfix, no different versions...
ROFL, now that I look at the page more closely I see what you mean, if you look in the hotfix listing for file structure, dated sept '05, LOL
Thanks for pointing that out, have been watching this thread wondering.
Unsubscribed now.
Nead to read a bit more closely next time

Ok, V4 of this hotfix has been released.
Once you install the hotfix V4 then complete the registry edit:
Along with the boot.ini /usepmtimer tweak, I am loading up programs like Adobe Photo, Catalyst Control Center (which is notorious for being slow) BF2, CS:S, etc a whole lot faster now. I use the Adobe Photo program a lot and it didn't make sense to me why it was taking so long to load up (after a format, XP reinstall). But this does the trick. The reason for this update is to inform you of the v4 Hotfix. OP indicated the v3 hotfix.1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
2. Right-click HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Session Manager, point to New, and then click Key.
3. Type Throttle for the new key name.
4. Right-click Throttle, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
5. Type PerfEnablePackageIdle for the value name.
6. Right-click PerfEnablePackageIdle, and then click Modify.
7. In the Value data box, type 0. Make sure that Hexadecimal is selected in the Edit DWORD Value dialog box, and then click OK.

Yeah v4 was released Decemeber 19th people. But yes, this is based off the old fix released earlier. I would guess this one has some fixes.
How hard is it to upload to rapidshare or megaupload. I will download the patch and host it.

You add /usepmtimer to your boot.ini Windows XP line. I can't remember if its usepmtimer or usepmtimers.
EDIT: its timer.

This is not needed for C2D.
If it was this "hotfix" would be the most common thing for everyone. Then it would be everywhere and used everywhere and most likely marked as a critical update. So please....go find the real issue instead. Most likely pr0ndialers and crap. But since this was started on a pure speculation..also im quite sure its superseeded now.
I´m sure if it was important that MS would have moved it from beta to patch after 1½ year. And perhaps alot of people now win problems due to installing it without having the problem first described.

As, I posted earlier, I do see reduce time in loading up programs like CCC and Adode Photoshop. These 2 alone was proof enough for me. These 2 programs would always pause my system as it loaded until I performed the Hotfix. FYI, MS doesn't refer to this hotfix for AMD only and I am a believer.

I also believe the event to trigger this can only happen on a laptop.

This is fixed in Vista?
