    Bad Axe 2: 4GB with >DDR2-800Mhz possible?

    Hello all,

while reading through threads here i haven't seen a
single statement that it is possible to overclock
    4GB DDR2-Memory above 800Mhz with Bad Axe 2.
    I have seen a few letting 4GB run 1:1 with FSB 400
(which still results in memory only at 800Mhz) and
maybe low latencies, but none mentionable above
    800MHz for memory.

    Is it possible at all?

To all running Bad Axe 2 with 4GB, please post your
    possible memory overclocks.

Also interesting is the size which is shown in
Windows XP (always 3.25GB, or does it depend
on the RAM-size of the graphic cards?).

Thank you very much for your help,

    Aljechin.

    Thanks for your input.

@clark: You tested this with Prime?
DDR2-1000 is exactly what i'm looking forward to.

@babyface: Nice to hear that Micron's can do the job.

@okmijun: The kingmax are specified being DDR2-667?!

If someone of you is using Windows XP (32-bit), can you tell
me how much memory is available with it? 3.25GB?

Thanks again for all your posts.

If you're talking about setting DDR2 800; I've never had luck with that on any i975x board. On some it would simply not run and others it would set yet be unstable. I run 533 and 667 fine. I can do something like 400 x 9 freq 667 for a real frequency of DDR2 1000 without issue.

    bad axe 2 is running 4 X 1GB Geil sticks @ 800 no problem.
haven't overclocked the memory yet. still haven't found max OC as system is still new.

windows XP32 sees only around 3GB (haven't used the big memory boot switch yet)

going to be a dual boot, XP32/vista 64 once I get around to it.
    Intel Bad Axe 2, QX6700, 4 X 1GB Geil, 7950GX2 - currently running 3.45 on Fuzion block and h20.

Thanks for the info Steel. As your 7950 GX2 eats 1GB
its no surprise to see only 3GB remaining... seems
graphic cards with less get more of the 4GB available,
    will test this myself.

Ladies and Gentlemen, ny other inputs to my topic?

Go with any 64 bit op sys, that's simple.

I'm running 4Gb under Winpro x64 without any memory problems at least.

GP: My main concern is running 4GB at DDR2-1000 and above
on Bad Axe 2, 64bitOS will not help with that for sure

I can run my crucial sticks at 500MHz (i.e. ddr1000) on BX2 with a 4:5 ration without any problem.

However, I don't like the latency with 4:5 because the timing is not as tight as 1:1.

I'm not a fan of memory Mhz but I do care more about latency.

Yes, me too... but with highest possible Mhz while maintaining
    low latency .

@Dam: Nice config, to bad P5B DLX has only 2x PCIe x16
(second one only x4) which does not suit my needs.

yes, they are certified for 667, and on most 965 mobos kingmax mars works just fine on 800, but on Bad Axe it can not boot w/667, just 533, I also have a friend of minem who did have the same problem on BAd Axe 2+kingmax mars modules.
On 32bit OS you can have 3.25GBm thats right, at least it was on rig, w/XP x64 you have full 4GB.

I have been runnin 4x1024 of the OCZ ATI cert memory. I could run it overclocked on my P5WD2-E with a 920D, but THIS board with a 975x chipset is WAY different in terms of overclocking, i cannot even begin to explain it, or know how... I was at a 300fsb, with a 3:4 ratio on the P5WD2-E, and can only attain a 385fsb with a 6600 at 1:1 now, with the BX2.... Am i missing something here??
