what's your vmch set to? also have you tried toggling the force peg? try forcing it to x1, and then disabling it to see if it'll bring itself out.

Hi, would like some advice, if anyone has experienced this issue?
My system specs are as below...
Cpu: e6300
Coolin: Thermalright Ultra 120
Board: Anus P5B Deluxe wi-fi AP bios 1004 (but I have experienced them all and no cure)
Memory: single 1Gb ocz gold xtc pc2 8800 - 1100mhz / 2.4vdimm / 5-6-6-15 (rated default)
GPU: x1900xt 256 Mb
PSU: Hyper Type r Modular 580w
HDD: Raptor Series 1 74Gb sata
Ive done all the usual disabling in bios and also the vcore pencil mod, which I really recommend... voltage selected in bios matches that in windows and when cores are stressed vcore actually rises slightly instead of drooping a lot.
Anyway, I can run at 3.4Ghz with 'actual' vcore of 1.36v, however I dont like the fact that I hit 60oC when stressing with TAT (Intel Thermal Analysis Tool).
So I thought, I'll use this long legged memory @ 3.2Ghz Cpu, and push the memory out using 'dram freq' set to 4:5... only to find its rubbish!!!
...I cannot boot over 420 fsb (1050mhz on memory), not even to the bios, regardless of timings, voltages, bios vers. etc etc... and yet on the next 'dram freq' it'll do 2.7Ghz CPU / ddr2 1152 mhz @ 5-5-5-15 / 2.4vdimm?
I really dont get it?
How can this be possible?
http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/OCZ/PC2-8800Gold/3
...could it be less stable owing to me only having a single stick? and hence single channel mode?
its really, really annoying because, I dont want to buy another stick of this stuff... if its a bit, erm, crappy
Any ideas peeps? I'd be sooooo greatful

I am running 80C under full load. I do have my system OS (Vista) SpeedStep Enabled. But I looped PCMARK05 and GO Orthos. for many hours without a crash. I keep an extra CPU on hand. I have a Asus VR Guard CPU Cooler. I don't think they are very good. Just running TAT my temps are in the high 60s

single stick would probably be more stable. it sounds like you're having issues with the 4:5 divider after certain fsb's. If you were able to hit 1152 in next dram freq, then you know the ram can do it. It's a motherboard limitation.Originally Posted by kapitilist_pig
Also, if you're setting for 3.2ghz, and want to max ram, 4:5 divider is not the way to go. You won't see any added performance, and being between 400 and 466 would be weaker due to being in the newer strap that won't recover until 466.
What I'd do is drop the multiplier to 7x and run 466fsb. It still won't net you the 1100mhz you're looking for, but it'd be probably faster in pretty much every regard.
I suppose if you could somehow manage to pull 6x533 out of the board (really tough!!!), running 1:1 there would net you 1067 which is right around the 1100 you're eyeing.

looks fine to me. is there a newer bios than that? also, it looks like you've got that peg booster turned on or whatever that's called. looks to be overclocking the 7900gs. that said, you can do a hell of a lot more of the 7900gs
edit: also, do you really need that high of a vcore to run your e66 at 3.2?

Yes I tested it with Orthos, but I only let it run for about an hour and everything passed. I probally should lower my vcore down a notch. Thank goodness that it is stable now. I had alot of problems in the past trying to overclock this board, but just like everyone said, you have to start small and stable and then do little tweaks here and there to see if it takes. A long process, but well worth it. Stable for 2 days and counting.![]()
I did the pencil vdroop mod, and added a ton of fans, and a 2nd power supply (350w) and use it to power all my fans and drives, and my 8800 gts. The main 500w power supply still powers the mobo.
i loosen the timing
i bumped up all the voltage to max, and vcore to 1.55
the system was still less stable at 470 fsb (before i begun all the mod said in this post). seems rock solid at 450 however.
i notice that i always get double boot, is this due to the strap issue? I am still foggy on the whole strap thing. I also notice that during post my bios shows that my ram is pc2-4300, while i have the 6400 shown above...
bios rev 1004
board rev C1
is my cpu maxing out or the board? is there any way to monitor the NB or SB temp? I tried removing the stock cooler, but the SB seems glued on and won't move. it also seems that if i max out my NB volt (1.8), the system is more stable. what about vmch, i have not seen or mod it yet. (because my lack of understanding of it)
thanks.
Just popped in to see whats new.. been busy lately, work...
Anyway has onyone tried installing x64 Vista? cause i plan to try it, and wanted to know if there are any issues..and so on?
A still cant make front audio panel work... it plays in windows, but no sound comes out.. any thought on that? (i meant i see in winamp, foobar or wmp that its playing ok, but i dont hear it)
EDIT : How can I input signature in profile??
Running Vista 64bit ultimate here with 1 big headache - the sound driver.
Ive got a quad analogue speaker setup that worked 100% in xp, but in vista setting it to quadrophonic gives no rear output. To fix this you have to set vista to 5.1 then just disable the centre speaker and sub then all works ok.
Also the driver doesnt stick and I loose the front panel mic. Boot up vista, install latest beta driver on asus website and get everything working. Then when you reboot pc vista defaults back to original driver causing mic loss.
So basically I have to reinstall sound driver everytime I reboot pc and set up speakers and mic.
p.s. the only other problem is there are no drivers for my webcam, dont use it so doesnt matter..

I lowered my nb core from 1.55v to 1.45v and memory from 2.10 to 2.00v. Stable so far and both settings are no longer in the red in the bios. Still at a OC of 3.2 and I am happy with that.Originally Posted by ziddey
Also, should I be turning my pc off everynight? I was told that it can damage my hard drive and all pc's are made to remain on all the time with an ocassional restart here and there. I hate to waste electricity though.

I like to use SpeedStep and the Hard Drive power down options and keep it on all the time. If you go with Vista they have allot of advanced power options.Originally Posted by MARINECOP

Perhaps this is a stupid question, but why is there an online config for seemingly every Asus mobo except the P5B for the SpeedFan program. Can you download and use the config for the P5W on the P5B?
